We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is the ability to be in the present moment, by focusing on my breath and letting go of the racing mind and the intense feelings of the emotional body. I always try and remind myself that “happiness” is not found in arriving at a future goal or destination, but rather being here in our current situation fully. We are always given a choice, which is to find “happy” inside regardless of our external circumstances
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography has been a spiritual pursuit for many years. I spent lots of time solo back packing in the wilderness off trail in search of dramatic light and composition. I saw the events that unfolded falling as gifts from above, there was something bigger than me amongst the landscapes visited. After a while this lead to finding adventurous passions like ice climbing, rock climbing, back country skiing, and high lining. While doing these activities I found a serious passion to document them and the people that participated
I got to where I am today with lots of consistency, and passion. Originally I went to school for photography, which lead to me getting an associates degree. What paid the bills for a while was photographing river rafting, and dog sledding. It was my passion but it definitely paid the rent. Once there was some savings built up, I invested into the realm of prints. I now sell my landscape photography infused into metal, and present these are farmers and artisan markets.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Visit the numerous waterfalls up the Crystal River Valley.
Day 2: Go and visit the Maroon Bells. This would include a visit to the classic Maroon Lake, and then have a hike to the other lakes around.
Day 3: Go rock climbing to some of the famous areas around where I live
Day 4: Go to the classic Crystal Mill and see the old mining towns.
Day 5: Drive over Independence Pass and see all the alpine zones from the ease of car travel.
Day 6: Climb Mt. Sopris which looms above the town I live in.
Day 7: Relax in the local hot springs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my parents Daniel and Sheryl for their endless support in my photography business.
