We had the good fortune of connecting with Shima Tern’a and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shima, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought on starting my own business was to take advantage of the music industry from the top down, then with the information and knowledge obtained on the highest levels implement it in a fair and evenly spread manner threw out my label. While minimizing the possibility for my artist and creators to be taking advantage of.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2011 I received and signed our current 80/20 label distribution deal for BBFrecords from a distributer out of Milan, Italy. But to get to that point took a lot of self motivation ,investing ,learning and determination.
As well as crafting a unique and individualized sound that’s the finger print for BBFR.
Now that’s we are imbedded in the music industry our goal is times music that’s consistently thought provoking.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When me and the guys are moving around the city GrandPa burgers Haven is a must! For Drinks LoDo ,16th street mall or Cervantes are all great spot to frequent. Then things wouldn’t be complete without hitting the ski resorts in the winter or the FootHIlls for a walk/hike in the warmer months.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes , I would definitely like to pay homage To all the label owners be for me in the realm of hiphop/rap music that
Open the doors ,showed and layed the blue print for owner ship and longevity beyond one hit , MasterP , Jayz , Dr.Dre , Cash Money records , Rick Ross and many more . . .
