We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeri Walsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeri, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I struggled with troublesome skin and had horrible eczema as a child, which is why I have a passion for skin and helping people. I’ve tried all lotions and treatments the doctors recommended, at one point I was prescribed to go tanning 2xs per week in a tanning booth by a doctor. Yep, it actually helped my eczema, no more bloody sheets and clothes. My parents purchased me a personal tanning bed for our home. My high school years I grew up tanning EVERYDAY…. which created a ton of skin damage- I DO NOT RECOMMEND, EVER! After graduating High School I immediately jumped into Esthetics school, and I loved it! I was not interested in fluffy facials or waxing but the results and transformations I could provide to people in need. I am a Licensed Esthetician with 12+ years experience! Through my career I’ve worked within small businesses, private doctors, corporations, and for myself, more than once. I have learned A LOT, some great things and some hard learning curves. In 2017 I had an amazing opportunity to start up a solo business. I rented a tiny room in the back of a day spa in downtown Golden, CO. After meeting and marrying the man of my dreams we travelled overseas and knew we wanted to raise a family next. It was time to make babies, I wanted to be an active mother and contribute to my families financial wellbeing. My life mission has always been to help people look and feel their very best in every stage of life. Once I was on the wife and mama track my mission doubled and deepened. How can I help more people…? Hire a team! I moved into a beautiful 5 treatment room office located directly under the “Welcome to Golden” arch in downtown, Golden, CO, and have a team of 5 passionate ladies. I am no longer in the treatment room but am business owner. I can be that visionary and think big picture. I have so much dedication and determination to grow and widen our practice, my employees, and to be a staple to the Golden Community on different levels. I have big plans for 2022, stay tuned and you’ll see. I love the quote “If you aren’t growing, your dying.” Yes, its a little dramatic but I love the concept. Your dreams should make you a little nervous and I want to leave a bigger impact and impression in my community. I do want to add that I have had so much help and I am grateful for everyone I have crossed paths with. It’s important to take care of yourself! Self-care should be number one, when you feel good you hold so much MORE power. I highly recommend a gratitude journal and of course an amazing esthetician– at the very least seasonally.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Owning your own business takes lots of energy, time and dedication! It’s not easy and it’s not for everyone. If I had to do it all over again, I would. I think it’s important to stay open minded and be able to pivot and adapt. Our industry is great because no one or anything can replace personal touch! Self care is important whether you desire a cozy facial, a great brow or you want to pack a punch with a limited schedule, we can accommodate. My team of ladies specialize in result oriented treatments and love connecting and getting to know each client. We will be your advocate, we will help you with your skincare and self care goals and we want to be your new happy place! We offer facials, botox, fillers, lasers and body contouring treatments. We’ve got you covered from head to toe! We welcome you in.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With the pandemic I will say it has brought light to our own homes and local communities more than ever! Colorado is an amazing state and we have almost anything at our finger tips… except an ocean. Some much needed girlfriend time would include good wine, I bought a case of White Cabinet from a Grand Junction winery. Some home cooked meals are always fun especially with friends and family. If we want to venture out we would go to a local small business restaurant, farmers market and/or boutique shopping. A walk or bike ride around Standley Lake or Goldens Trails is always peaceful. To end the night, an at home facial and sitting around a fire pit enjoying each others company. This sounds magical!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love this! As I previously mentioned… my husband and families support has been amazing! I also strongly recommend a Coach for business or personal reasons, they help you stay focused! I would not be where I am now without her. Lastly, a daily gratitude journal, a good cup of tea, a yummy face mask and a warm bubble bath with silence and a burning candle. HA!
