Meet Jess Cowden

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Cowden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Jamie & Linda met at a luxury catering company, over 20 years ago. Jamie was the executive chef & Linda sold and coordinated events. They followed their dreams and passion for creating memorable events & started their own catering company (A Perfect Bite Catering). They quickly grew and needed more space to operate. Baldoria on the Water was an abandoned building for 4 years, but they saw the potential. They invested everything, and put blood, sweat & tears into creating Baldoria on the Water, with A Perfect Bite Catering as the in-house catering company in 2014. I have personally worked for this family owned business for 5 years now. It has been an honor to work for such a great family, who truly cares about each event and client. Linda calls me after each event, to find out how everything went. With this being a family owned business & not a corporate company, we are given flexibility with the events that we execute, making each event completely customized to each vision. Over the past 2-3 years, we have vastly grown in the industry and it has been amazing to witness all of the growth. Community is huge, we are now a part of several networking groups and attend all of the events. Our community inside the company is beautiful. We have 4 coordinators now (the Bal Gal’s- AKA Best Friends) and a service team that has been a part of the family for several years now. We have grown our own little community inside of the company, that is a community of friendships and love, and something I treasure each day. It takes a village, but it also takes a dream, hard work, and people who actually care.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a full-service wedding and event venue, there is a lot of details and creativity that goes into each event. Linda gives us the free range to take our event to the next level. She is always open and excited for new ideas. Our team is full of talents of many different kinds. Each one of us brings something different to the table. As a team, we are able to bring the visions to life and execute life changing events. Lessons I have personally learned along the way, remove ego, there is always something new to learn from every event and every vendor. We never know it all, each person can bring something new. Also, teamwork, we cannot do it all on our own. When we trust our team, and delegate job duties, everything runs smoothly. When you have a team full of people who show up, work hard, and care about the job they are doing and the people they are doing that job with, the process is beautiful and the events are flawless.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If coming to the Green Mountain neighborhood, I would of course want to show them Baldoria! Jamie & Linda also own another restaurant/ bar in the area- Westrail Tap & Grill, with amazing food and fun activities. I would also suggest going up to Red Rocks, it is just a 10 minute drive from our venue, and a nationwide attraction. We are also conveniently located just 15 minutes from Downtown Denver. Make us the central stop and then see all that surrounds our venue.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Heather Radtke joined the Baldoria team 3 years ago, as the GM and a Sales Executive. Since she joined the team, I have watched Baldoria blossom into its real potential. She has given her all, makes sure we have everything we need, and has broadened our brand to take on more corporate events as well. She also worked on a complete new look/ brand for Baldoria, and has given her all to the company and our team. She is the backbone of us all and a strong leader to launch us into new chapters.
