We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica L’Whor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is huge for my business in this industry. Not only in the content I am creating, but it is about setting the bar high and going after opportunities regardless if people say no. Risk taking has gotten be extremely far in life. I always say “the worst thing someone can do is say “no””, and you are back where you were. This goes with trusting your gut, reading a room, and knowing when it is your time to showcase yourself and your business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a baseline a drag entertainer…but honestly I am so much more than that. I brand myself as a profession who can literally do it all. What sets be apart is my consistency and reliability. I make what I say happen and do it very well. I am still getting to a place I would like to be professionally, and it is constant work. I put my career and business first. I am constantly working day in and out to ensure that I growing as a business and artist. It is not easy, and every week new challenges happen. I overcome them by constantly reminding myself of the bigger picture. I have learned what things not to say, or even ways to respond to stress. I have learned so much more about empathy and compassion. I want the world to know that hard work, good intentions, and dreaming at any age is realistic. I want people to know genuinely what you say/do/put out into the universe either alone or around people will come back around.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would honestly love to take my best friend all over Colorado. We would go to horse tooth/downtown in Fort Collins. Visit some breweries. I would take them shopping and to dinners all around town with my other friends. Take them to shows where they would feel inspired by . There is so much to do in Colorado, sometimes you just have to look a little harder!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shout out to We Are Family Organization here in Colorado. WAF is a nonprofit designed to help queer individuals or individuals associated with the queer community going through financial hardship.
