We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie Lessard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that Branding and perseverance are the most important factors behind the success of your business, branding helps you stand out from others while perseverance helps you move past the hurdles of starting your own business and helps teach you lessons along the way. It’s so easy to give up when things get hard, but when you keep going eventually you see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Jessica Marie Hair Co, I feel like it’s an experience when they come into my salon, my goal is to make them feel like their friend and I try to be as personable as I can and make them feel at home while they get their hair done! I’ve also mastered the hand-tied hair extensions, so this helps me give expert service to all my clients. I’ve been working on a new re-brand and I’m so excited to share it with everyone, I love everything that was created and I’ve also have something else in the works that I’m jumping up and down over, but it’s still a secret! Managing your money and time is a hard balance, and I’ve learned you become married to your business, so you have to really be in love with it. I’ve also learned that I have to step up and be the boss and learn how to set boundaries with my clients because I’m such a “Yes” person. Lastly, you can never learn enough so continuous education has helped get me to where I am today!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we’d do yoga on the rocks at Red Rocks, and then for Brunch, we’d hit Bacon Social – they have the best bacon, of course, but it’s an appetizer that’s literally a flight of bacon with six different flavors. Pair that with a bottle of champagne and it’s the ultimate experience. Brewery tours are also a must in the Rhino District – there isn’t a bad one if you can visit all of them! One of my favorite dinner places Postinos, it’s Italian and their bruschetta is to die for! They also have a great wine bar which you could totally do alone on another night. A Colorado Rockies game would be another fun itinerary item and if you’re looking to party a visit to the Rooftop at Coors Field. At some point, we’d have to do a hike at Hanging Lake, it’s got beautiful scenery! I’d also take them to Breckenridge for a little touristy visit, but if it’s ski season Copper Mountain would be the ideal location! You can get cute Airbnbs up there as well!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my life to POSH PR, they have helped me every step of the way, I was hesitant at first because I’m very independent so asking for help was hard! Between Caroline and her Dolls, they have made it so easy and effortless, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!
