We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie McKinney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie, what are you inspired by?
Resilience.
In my work as a healer, I’m continuously reminded of this trait that lies within us all. Pain and trauma can often be utilized as conduits of complete transformation, given the right tools and mindset.
It never ceases to amaze me that various forms of suffering often plant seeds within our energy that can be nurtured (through the healing process) to blossom into beauty, resulting in growth and expansion. We all have this breathtaking ability!
Sincere healing is a truly remarkable thing to behold, and I’m honored to have front row seats to so many caterpillars-turned-butterflies in my line of work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Jumping into the line of energy work and mediumship was incredibly frightening at first. We’re all taught at a young age that “real” means “tangible.” But feelings can’t be grasped with our hands… does that make them any less “real” than anything else in our lives?
Growing up I would see and hear things that people around me didn’t, and as I matured, I understood I didn’t fit into those nice “boxes” laid out for people in society, so I chose to adapt.
I pursued a career in the judicial system as a court reporter in 2008. Seeing all the broken people move through the courtrooms tore apart my heart. Criminals and victims alike were in pain and were, in turn, spreading pain like wildfire. I knew there had to be something more I could do.
I didn’t realize the world was FULL of people who saw, felt, and experienced things through their intuition like I did until I started this journey back in 2016.
After receiving my first Reiki session in 2016, a whole new world opened to me in the form of energy, colors, and spirits. The floodgates had opened once again, bringing back all those experiences from childhood.
I knew this was it! This was how I could make a difference! So I pursued Reiki I, II, and Master training. With those trainings opened a new world to Spirit, and I’ve since started Medium sessions to help people heal from the loss of loved ones who have “passed.” If I can see and hear spirits, why not share that with those who are grieving to help them heal?
I now know that my purpose on this Earth in this time is to heal others, to facilitate clients healing themselves and returning to their authentic selves to create balance and peace within.
My only hope for this life is to let light touch as many people as possible through hope, love, and healing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love to relax! Anyone who knows me knows I’m expert at chill. HA! (Maybe to a fault…)
That said, hot springs are always on the top of my list for a visit. Give me a natural hot springs (or nature of any kind) and some snacks, and I’ll be set for the day.
Who doesn’t love to lose themselves to peace and tranquility?!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has been my number one cheerleader – encouraging me to always push myself further, expand my point of view, and venture outside my comfort zone. (Sometimes much to my dismay!)
It always amazes me that he doesn’t think I’m crazy when I tell him about the “visions” I have during my workday… the things I see and experience during sessions can sometimes be WILD, so I’m grateful he nurtures my authentic self.
My “tribe” is also incredibly important to me. Being in this line of work can be lonely starting out, so it’s absolutely necessary to find like-minded individuals to support and lift you up.
My best friend, Kayla Subia, and my “chosen” family of Scott and Monica Bonynge have been integral in pushing my intuition and abilities to their limits – always encouraging me to trust myself. They’ve always seen the light in me, and I’ll be forever grateful!
