We had the good fortune of connecting with JJ and Luisa Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JJ, Luisa, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At Zoom Room, we provide dogs of varying levels of training and temperament an opportunity to do positive reinforcement training in a safe, force-free environment. With the increase in pet ownership from the pandemic, the demand for dog training has skyrocketed and we saw this as an opportunity to make a difference in Colorado’s dog-friendly community.
It was during COVID we made the decision to open a Zoom Room. Even throughout the pandemic, we have never been afraid of entering new challenges and this was the perfect move that spoke to all of the members of my family. I was attracted to Zoom Room’s unique business model and I love the idea of pet owners being able to bond with their dogs in a positive way.
What should our readers know about your business?
Zoom Room the leading in-person dog training expert with more than 17+ locations on all things related to dog and dog care has a mission to not train dogs, but rather train the humans who love them. The classes we offer help to build the relationship between dog and owner. We focus on positive reinforcement techniques, with an emphasis on socialization for both dogs and their owners through our offering of a puppy, obedience, agility, and enrichment. As a result of our fun and engaging classes, pet parents are able to exercise with their dog, learn the best training tips and tricks, and how to navigate separation anxiety as people go back to their normal daily routines. Some of the classes we offer are four levels of obedience, two puppy specific programs, four levels of non-competitive agility, workshops like urban herding and scent work, enrichment programs like trick classes We decided to get into this business because we, as a family, we’re looking to dedicate our lives to something we were passionate about. For us, this is not only something that pays the bills but the thought of working with dogs and helping the community really gets us excited to wake up in the morning.
This journey has definitely been a challenge as there as so many facets to owning your business and we realized that we needed to understand the purpose of opening a Zoom Room location in Colorado Springs. It has been the foundation and culture we are looking to develop. We are not the experts on everything and there are always things we need to learn in order to improve and further develop ourselves so we reach out to people for advice and educate ourselves more about the business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start off the day going to one of our favorite breakfast places, the Lake Terrace Dining Room at the Broadmoor Hotel. The food there is amazing, and anyone is sure to find something that they will love. After breakfast, we would walk around the lake at the Broadmoor. A quick walk around Garden of the Gods is a must-see attraction with a mandatory stop at Balanced Rock for pictures. For a bit of nostalgia, I would recommend a walk around Manitou Springs with a stop at the Penny Arcade. We would end the day with dinner at Piglatin Cocina for amazing drinks and great food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have been blessed to be surrounded by likeminded friends and business owners who are not only amazing at what they do but share that positive “Give to others mentality.” Some people to note:
– The Lost Friend Brewing Company – https://www.lostfriendbrewing.com . This company is a dog loving and friendly local brewery. I love taking my dog here.
– Peak Place Coffee https://www.peakplace.com This shop is our go to for amazing coffee pick me ups and they also have excellent breakfast.
– Finally there are a few particular people to note (Ramon Alvarez of Minute Man Press and Pete Cassara of Fast Signs Colorado) who have gone out to their way to provide business mentorship to help me on my journey to Zoom Room.
