We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, what do you attribute your success to?
I think one of the most factors behind our success is our perseverance. I know it’s not sexy but when owning a business (or anything in life) success follows those who grit it out. It’s early mornings and late nights. It’s constantly showing up with no direct reward sometimes. Sometimes the payoff is years away and you have to keep grinding it out which can be really demoralizing and draining. Looking back on our pretty recent success, I can tie it back to risky & expensive decisions several years ago that are now panning out.

What should our readers know about your business?
I created Wright Prime & Paint several years ago. I was in school pursuing a career in the medical field. After a few unexpected life events and realizing I didn’t have the passion necessary to sustain more education years, I decided to pursue a life change and chase after one of my life goals of owning a business. I had painted through college and decided that starting a painting company was a smart choice (enter laughing emoji). I wanted to be a difference in the contracting world. I wanted to start a company that has a reputation for elevating spaces, elevating our trade, and being reliable. The journey definitely has not been easy. I had to learn new skills for developing a prosperous business. Honestly, it’s a constant learning process. Making mistakes and failing will always happen. It’s about learning from them and trying not to make them again. A lot of those failures hurt. Sometimes it feels like it’s you vs. everybody. Which it’s not but sometimes it’s hard to find people who understand where you are and where you want to go. Perseverance is critical, in my opinion, to the longevity and success of a business. Surrounding yourself with people who support and challenge you (in the right way…there are a lot of people who challenge based on negativity).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week in Colorado Springs. I’m an avid outdoors lover. So the whole week could be compromised of outdoor activities. Some of our outdoors-related activities would be hiking or mountain biking at Palmer Park & North Cheyenne Cañon. And maybe a hike up to the top of Cheyenne Mountain.

We would go to a soccer game at Weidner Field-Switchbacks FC stadium.
For drinking, we would visit Allusion Speak Easy-probably one of the best bars in the Springs. And visit a few of our favorite breweries- Pikes Peak Lager House, FH Brewery, and Cerberus (also has amazing food)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of the best people in my life is my wife, Ali. She puts up with my crazy life and has been an amazing supporter that helps push me to pursue my ambitions. I also have several friends and mentor groups that have been critical to my growth.
