Meet Juan Carlos Freyre | Actor and Public Image Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Carlos Freyre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan Carlos, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I always wanted to be an actor. I was part of the theater club at school, and at first I saw it as a hobby—something I did in my free time but secretly wished could become my life. My parents, however, encouraged me to pursue a different path, so I studied Communication and later earned a Master’s in Public Policy. Looking back, it was a good decision, because making a living solely from art can be very challenging. Still, art has always been my lifeline.
After finishing my master’s, I started working in government. Five years later, a change in administration came with layoffs, and I was one of the people affected. It was devastating at first—work had been a strong pillar in my life, something I invested most of my energy in, and suddenly it wasn’t there anymore. I could have fallen into depression or let guilt and nostalgia take over, but instead, I went back to my passion and enrolled in musical theater. That truly saved me—I was busy, I was creating, I was alive. Art has this unique way of touching us and making us stronger.
Eventually, I found another job, but this time I decided to keep acting projects as part of my life. I’ve rehearsed in the evenings, performed in plays on weekends, done commercials, and even worked on projects for streaming platforms. Balancing both worlds hasn’t been easy, but it has allowed me to see beauty and artistry in what many call “the everyday.” I also bring techniques from acting into my professional life: now, as a public and political image consultant, I use tools from performance to help my clients strengthen their presence and communication.
For me, balance isn’t about separating work and passion—it’s about weaving them together so each part of my life enriches the other.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my work apart is that I approach communication and public image with the eyes of both a consultant and an actor. My background is in Communication and Public Policy, and I’ve worked in government and international institutions. But alongside that professional path, I’ve also trained and performed as an actor, which gives me a unique perspective: I don’t just analyze strategies, I understand presence, storytelling, and performance on a human level.
Getting here hasn’t been easy. Early in my career, I experienced setbacks, like losing a stable government job I had worked hard to build over the years. That experience could have defeated me, but instead it pushed me to lean on my passion for theater and performance. Theater became my anchor, and it gave me the creativity, confidence, and resilience to move forward and build something new.
Today, I’m proud that I’ve been able to merge these two worlds. In my work as a public and political image consultant, I use tools from acting—voice, body language, storytelling—to help leaders and organizations connect more authentically with their audiences. At the same time, I continue to perform in plays, commercials, and projects for streaming platforms, keeping that creative fire alive.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that balance is not about separating different parts of your life, but about weaving them together so they enrich each other. What I want people to know about my story is that art is not separate from professional life—it can be the key to becoming more human, more present, and more inspiring in whatever you do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My perfect itinerary would start with breakfast—definitely my favorite meal of the day. From there, we’d take a train to a nearby small town and spend the day exploring. I love discovering local attractions, learning something new, and supporting local artisans, so we’d shop for a handmade craft or two. Of course, good food would be part of the plan—we’d enjoy a nice local lunch before heading back home. The day would end with a relaxing evening and a delicious dinner, the perfect way to close a simple but memorable adventure.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Grateful to my parents, my husband, and the Azularte community — they gave me so much, and that love has only multiplied in my life.
