We had the good fortune of connecting with Julian Legarda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julian, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Making art makes me happy, I just love to create. Whether that be Tattoos, paintings, etc. I feel I can express myself through my art ten times better then I ever could with my voice, it’s a wonderful thing. And I’m thankful I can help my clients express themselves through the tattoos that I do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been professionally tattooing for about two years and the thing I’d say I’m most excited about is seeing the progression of my work over the next few years. Even seeing the tattoos I was doing a few months ago look totally different than the ones I’ve been doing as of recent. My dad has been a tattoo artist for the majority of my life and it always sparked my interest I’d say it my path to being a tattooer was fairly easy compared to what some other tattooer have gone through. I’ve learned that the only way to learn how to do something in most cases, is just to start. Everyone has to start somewhere and it’s never to early or late to follow your dream.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have so many spots that I love to go to here in town, but my favorites certainly include Garden of the Gods, Gold Camp Road, and old stage road. All have immaculate views of the city during the day or night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my father Jesus for mentoring me and helping me through every step of my journey thus far.
