Meet Kate Pucci

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Pucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I truly believe that risk-taking creates opportunities for growth and ultimately, if we’re open to it, has the ability to propel us forward. For me, moving out to Colorado from New York almost 6 years ago now prompted me to step outside my comfort zone in so many ways, all of which I am eternally grateful. Both personally and professionally, I have found that risks often end up being very rewarding and provide a grounding reminder to slow down and appreciate my work and effort instead of feeling the constant need to pursue the next big thing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor was largely influenced by my education and experiences as a Creative Arts Therapist and a Yoga Instructor. After graduating with my Masters in 2017 and YTT in 2019, I felt a strong desire to relocate from Long Island as a way of discovering and getting to know myself on a more personal level. The transition wasn’t easy but it was something I wanted and was committed to cultivating, despite the temporary discomfort it elicited at times. I think my mindset and the support I received from family and friends really helped to center me and bring me back to my ‘why’ whenever I questioned or doubted myself along the way. If I could share anything from my experience that might resonate for someone reading, it would be to go for it, whatever ‘it’ may be. It’s okay that it’s scary and it’s important to acknowledge those feelings and sit with them, but growth comes from doing it anyway. You are more capable than you think!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love showing Colorado off to my friends and family when they visit, it really is so beautiful and there’s so much to see! Hikes and/or scenic drives are always on the to-do list (with no shortage of either!) along with checking out Red Rocks, weekend farmer’s markets, and stops at local breweries. I’m looking forward to upcoming trips to Hanging Lake, Crested Butte to see the wildflowers, and Steamboat Springs during ski season.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I certainly could not have gotten to this point without the unwavering love and support from my husband, Patrick, as well as my family and friends. I feel that each and every person I’ve met along my journey has contributed in some way to where I am today and for that I”m so thankful. Books by Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now) and John Kabat-Zinn (Wherever You Go, There You Are) have really influenced my mindfulness journey which I encourage in therapy with my clients and practice in my life on a daily basis.
