Meet Katherine Stribakos | Esthetician & Owner of scrub me skin care

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Stribakos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Seeing other people genuinely enjoy life and feel content and happy is something that truly makes me happy. My work is about making people feel cared for and pampered while also helping them feel confident in their skin. When someone enjoys their facial or body service so much and leaves my studio with glowing skin and radiating calmness, I feel happiness in my soul.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I graduated from esthetician school at the beginning of 2010. I always knew I loved the skincare and beauty industry, but fresh out of school, I didn’t yet know what my niche was. I worked a lot and performed mostly services like spray tans and waxing when I was still green and learning. As my work continued, I was always seeking out education, practicing, and researching skincare and ingredients; this led to some great conversations with my spray tan and waxing clients. Although I wasn’t doing the exact services that fueled my soul, I enjoyed providing a spectacular service, and I was happy to talk about skincare and let people pick my esthetician brain. Soon, people started to seek out my advice for skincare and wanted to come see me for facials. This led me to start writing informational and educational articles for a blog I started and this is when my career started shifting from spray tan and waxing tech to trusted facialist and esthetician. It wasn’t fast or easy to get to a place where I had full books of facials and face massage treatments every day (no more waxing and tanning!) I am finally in a place where I am known for my facials and skincare guidance. It was a slow burn, but I feel like I was always speaking it into existence. Everything that I do and speak about is my passion and its all wrapped up in scrub me skin care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still super new here! I moved here about 4 months ago, but so far I already have some favorite places. I think first I would take them to Chataqua Park and do the Royal Arch trail for our morning exercise. Something not too easy but quick and not super hard! Then, depending on what day it is we could either stop by the Saturday Boulder Farmers market or the Westminster one on Sunday. We will definitely be grabbing peaches, a coffee, a baked good treat, and flowers/produce to bring home. Then I would take them around Spruce street and Pearl street in Boulder and we could grab a broth or a smoothie from Wonder Juice and take a walk around and pop into some of those cute shops like Cedar & Hyde Mercantile. I’m sure we could make it to the Boulder reservoir for a little kayak session before 6pm and then we could either sit on my porch and watch the sunset or if we still had the energy, we could bike ride a little up into the canyons of Boulder and coast down as the sun sets.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has been a big source of support throughout the many years of me growing my business. There have been times when my parents have helped me make, package, and ship skincare items. And times when my husband is using his corporate marketing knowledge to help me with my website and marketing. I’m really thankful for and feel lucky for my family that is so supportive and wants nothing in return but to see scrub me skin care thrive and grow. That and maybe some free soaps and skincare 😉
