Meet Kimberly Dawn Diaz | Senior Concierge Services

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Dawn Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I became a Nurse because of my grandparents and the exposure I had to Veterans specifically as a child going back and forth to Hines, VA visiting with my Grandfather. I could not go into the room but would sit in the common area where Veterans would gather and just hearing there stories inspired me and I knew they needed my help.
Fast forward many years later I became a Nurse and did work for a short time at Hines, VA as I promised my Grandfather I would. I worked in many capacities as a Trauma Nurse, ICU, ER, Recovery room, Case Management, Organ donation and Home Health and Hospice. I also found out that I had a debilitating movement disorder which would have ended my career if not for an ED I had at San Diego Hospice who mentored me and taught me how to be a leader and to teach others the skills I had. That made me fall in love with Hospice, I was unable to use my hands for a few years and that connected me to my Serenity who was my Service animal for 3 years until I had a successful brain surgery December 2018 which gave me the use of my hands back.
2018 I opened my own company Care Matters Always which I helped with placing seniors into AL, IL and MC and also worked as a Director of Nursing for a local Hospice.
I did not understand my journey at the time but in 2020 while working as a Director of Nursing for a local Hospice I decided due to many of circumstances that it was my time to shine and I started working CMA full time. Due to COVID many families were removing their loved ones from communities and I was able to pivot my focus to case management and private duty nursing helping keep there loved ones safe at home. I also received a certification as a death doula due to my passion for end of life care which I also brought into my business. When COVID lifted I also returned to helping with Advocacy and Placement and received my certification as a placement specialist as well as fine tuned my skills in managing dementia while still loving to help veterans.
2021 I also added a referral placement agency for caregivers after referring this work out and realizing what others had to offer was not at the caliber I wanted for my clients. They needed more, better then came CMA Concierge services for seniors and their families.
2023 I branched out to the Tampa area and am currently working on a branch there with an ultimate goal to open a Memory care that serves those suffering from dementia with behaviors which I will call “Millie’s’ place after my dear grandmother.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely Red Rocks that is one of my favorite places as well as Garden of the Gods. We are still getting to know and fall in love with Denver I would actually appreciate some recommendations.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandparents and my former mentor Carol Lovci. I am also inspired by Teepa Snow, her books and teachings on dementia are phenomenal.
