We had the good fortune of connecting with Kodi Wade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kodi, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind the success and growth for my vape store has been the idea of making friends with all of our customers. No matter who walks through our doors we find something to connect about. We want to know about your life, we want to know if you’re having a good day or not. There have been days when we have met people who have welcomed their first baby to the world and someone that had just left from saying their final goodbye to their mother. We want to be there for all of those moments, even if it’s just because you need a little bit of nicotine to make it to the next day. We are creating a real community that is missing from a lot of businesses these days. Im still building my cuticle oil business, so far all my customers have great feedback and I am just continuing to strive to make the best product for them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I actually own two businesses currently, a vape store in Littleton, CO and a cuticle oil business. The vape store is a business that I was gifted a part of after managing the store for four years. I dedicated my time to making sure to learn everything I can about the business; the products, the industry, and my customers more than anything. Over the last four years it has been a struggle keeping up with the trends and the world financially. We always want our customers to feel like we are offering them the best products for the best prices, we value our customers because we are only here because of them. I have found that as long as we take care of our customer, whether that be bringing in their favorite item as a special order or helping out with a discount when theyre waiting on payday, they will take care of us. My cuticle oil business was the culmination of years of being in the beauty industry and working retail for a bath/body store, resulting in a beautiful product that I am truly proud of. I started it because my nail tech mentioned she needed new oil, I offered to make her some. After she started using the oil on her other clients they wanted bottles of their own, so I started making it in bulk and now other techs at her salon are also using it. Its been learning curve to figure out all of the labeling and starting an online shop, thankfully I have some really great friends that have been encouraging me along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Absolutely would have to go to Bagel Deli in Denver for breakfast at least once, if not twice. Catrina’s in Englewood for great Mexican food. A little trip to A House of Pots to look at plants that we probably don’t need, but definitely will want to take home. For sure will try and book a class at The Terrorium Shop in Denver to make some cute creepy taxidermy or insect pinning. Try and catch a concert at Fiddlers Green. And dinner at Sushi Totoro in Aurora for all you can eat sushi and Los Dos Portrillos off 120th for amazing tacos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and my husband are my biggest cheerleaders. Their encouragement and unending love for me has shown me that I am capable of achieving any and all of my dreams. No matter how big or small my ideas have been they are always there to encourage and support me. And also my therapist, Katy, she’s always been the clarity in the imposter syndrome haze that sometimes tries to overshadow the goals.
