We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristina Campos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristina, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I have done to impact my children is to spend quality time with them. Quality time tells your child that you love them and makes them feel important. Quality time gives parents the opportunity to get to know their children on a deeper level. And Quality time is where trust, compassion, and relationships are built. When parents spend real quality time with their children, the other parts of parenting become easier and fall into place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My story starts with me crying in my closet. I was going through a divorce and didn’t know where my life was headed. I had 4 children and a teaching career I loved, but everything was about to change. What was I going to do? I also saw that my children needed me. My teenagers needed ME more than they have ever needed me before. I had to make a difficult decision to quit a job I love so that I can STOP focusing on other people’s kids and start focusing on my own. I needed a schedule flexible enough to work from anywhere and anytime.
I founded The Impactful Parent because I needed to change my focus but I also wanted to continue helping my community. I saw a need to help parents understand their adolescent children so that they could see how amazing their children were. Soon- The Impactful Parent was born!
I started creating online classes and doing one on one coaching but I still felt something wasn’t enough. I wanted to reach more parents! Support for children of school-aged children is few and far between. I didn’t want parents to google their problems and go down the rabbit hole of the crazy Google machine so I decided to evolve my business into an app. As an app, the Impactful Parent is help right in your pocket!
The journey to get here wasn’t easy. When life turns everything upside down, it is scary and unpredictable. I had to lean into my fears and rely on my children for their support and approval. My children and I used to do homework together when I got my master’s degree and my kids were the first people I asked for advice when I needed new ideas and someone to bounce ideas off. I may be the founder of my business but my children are the true foundation. They are the solid concrete slabs under my feet that support me when I feel like I am going to tumble.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a Colorado professional sporting event (depending on the season). Go to the 16th street mall and explore Union Station, downtown, and zoom around the city on rental scooters
I would take them to eat at various locations around the Denver area including Sushi Den, Ophelia’s, and The Atomic Cowboy.
I would make sure that my guest got a taste of the mountains too. Depending on the season, we would go for a hike or tubing in the mountains. I particularly like Breckenridge and Winter Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children. My children were my biggest fans when I started my business. They believed in me and encouraged me to follow my dreams.
