We had the good fortune of connecting with Lev Averbakh (Since JulEYE) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lev, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had been working in the music industry for quite some time as a tour manager and driver. After a fairly successful tour in the spring of 2017 it started to feel like tour managing wasn’t going anywhere for me so i decided it was time to start my own music project. In retrospect, as far as touring goes, its much more fun being a performer than on the touring crew.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As with any artist the main goal is to be original. I feel like I’ve gotten to the point with my music where it has somewhat of its own sound. I like to play around with different genres and if i can do that while keeping the elements that make it a Since JulEYE song, thats what I’m looking for. I got where i am by paying attention to how the music game works and putting in the work. It was not easy. As any artist will tell you, the biggest challenge to overcome is in your own mind. We’re too hard on ourselves sometimes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im not really big on going out to bars just to sit around and drink, but before covid i was going to local concerts several times a week. If my best friend was visiting, i would definitely try to time the visit for a show at Red Rocks. If the visit was a week long we would probably end up at Cervantes, my favorite local venue, several times. As far as food i would have to say my favorite spot is Pho Duy. I eat pho several times a week.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all my amazing and super talented friends for pushing me and believing in my music. Also hugeshout out to everyone on the roster and in the office over at Mammoth Music Group, they have helped me a ton.
