We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my music is that I’m interested in doing my own thing, and not necessarily following the trends that roll through. It’s an interesting challenge to incorporate aspects of new styles, but I think it’s also important to remind true to my sound!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the biggest challenges I face as a creative is imposter syndrome. I love making music, and sharing it with others. The connection I’ve gained through sharing my art has been astounding. There are still times however, that I doubt myself, and the quality of the music I’m producing. It’s a wonderful challenge and a growth opportunity for me to work through these feelings, and remember that I have had so much genuine support along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tough one! In the city, some of my favorite spots are the many parks just to hang out in and chill. I’d also have to take them to one of my favorite spots, Happy Lemon, to get some milk tea with boba. Of course everyone visiting has to check out the mountains, the list gets too long from there haha
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important organization in my story so far is Vibrate Your Best Energy, or VYBE for short. They’ve built an incredible community that has been nothing but supportive.
