We had the good fortune of connecting with Mauryell Smith El and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mauryell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought behind starting Vessel came about through me growing spiritually as a person. I had learned about the dangers of plastic to our body and health and was looking for glass water bottles in grocery stores. I couldn’t find any so that observation was in the back of mind. Once I got laid off from my job at the Denver Post due to COVID 19 I jumped in right away to start Vessel.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Vessel Spring Water apart from others is that it’s high science in a bottle with its glass frame and spring water offering the purest of taste. Vessel is promoting the best within ourselves by offering a water that reflects how pure our own vessel’s should be. We aim to raise self love with our customers by teaching them the science of how water affects the inside of the body. I’m most proud of the impact it has had on people in a short amount of time because the company isn’t even a year old. The only distinguishing quality that got me here is that I didn’t give up and that I won’t give up. I will see this Vessel thing through the end I want it to be the most known beverage not just water brand in the world. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is stay consistent keep showing everyday no matter your mood because you never know what will happen. When you are face with adversity bet on yourself because nobody is going to help you better than you can help yourself. Knowing it’s on me if I make or mar my fortune gives me peace because in the end I know I won’t let me down. What I want the world to know is that Vessel Spring Water is a Moorish owned water brand, partaking in the acts of uplifting fallen humanity by being industrious. As well as we need to have a deeper appreciation for water because fresh water is becoming more scarce because of how we waste and how it’s being polluted. We must preserve this divine gift and give it the honor and veneration it deserves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots to eat is Angry Chicken in Aurora on Havana the have some fire wings so I would take someone there. I also like Park Burger in RiNo they have great turkey burgers and good cajun fries. We would definitely go on hikes in Boulder, Golden, Lookout Mountain and where ever else there is close enough to hike. I love hiking because I think its a little life metaphor because you have to push. yourself if you want to make it to the top. We would visit the cool art in RiNo, the Selfie Museum, the Art Museum, and other art galleries. I would usually hang out at Aurora Skate King, Purple Martini, ViewHouse, Beer Hall, or Gen Mill. Also we would kick it and shop at False Ego and Adult Ent. they are the best clothing brands and places to just chill in Denver.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my mother Danielle Reed because without her I wouldn’t be here right now. She is the strongest person I know and words can not describe how much I love her. Another shoutout to Brenden Matthews and his family because the Matthews took me and adopted me as family when I first moved to Colorado I can’t thank them enough. I also want to give a shoutout to Jevon Taylor at False Ego he was the first person to allow me to have my product in his store and I will never forget that I’m forever indebted to him.
