Meet Melanie Elizabeth | Content Creator & Home Cook

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanie Elizabeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melanie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It’s more than just taking pictures and videos of food. When I first started my page I often would get the comments like “Anyone can take a picture of food” And yes, that statement is absolutely true but there’s a real difference when someone is passionate about it. I think it’s always apparent when looking at a picture or video if someone really cared about whatever content they were creating. You also have to have a point of view and be genuine on your page if you want people to engage with you. So what you see on my page is 100% me 100% of the time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I had been cooking and posting food on my personal page for years and finally decided to just start. I wouldn’t say creating content has been easy but it has definitely been fun. I learn something every time I create a new post and I have made the most amazing connections through this page. I even have a little notebook that I list out everything I’ve learned so I remember for similar situations that may come up in the future. If you aren’t trying to constantly grow and reflect on yourself I think you are just hindering yourself (and your content) from being incredible.
The Blonde Food Sl*t is me expressing my love for food and with that supporting local restaurants and businesses. I am so grateful to not only enjoy these culinary experiences first hand but also to share the experiences with others through my content. I get very excited to create recipes or over the top food at home to highlight different products because that’s when I really have the opportunity to share my own cooking as well.
Event planning is my other passion and I’m looking forward to expanding on that in the near future. I had the honor of hosting a dinner with Chef Gio and Hayden from Uptown & Humboldt recently. It was such a beautiful evening with amazing food and even more amazing women that attended in a stunning local Airbnb – The Boho House. It reminded me how much I love putting together events and it would be nice to use my Event Management degree too! 😉

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh gosh, this is a loaded question! I actually have a full list of restaurants categorized by type including brunch, happy hour, sushi, steakhouse, etc. I share with someone visiting so they can pick and choose which places they would prefer to go.
If I had to pick for a Friday – Sunday visit this would be my perfect agenda.
Friday: Temaki Den for dinner then The Woods for sunset views and cocktails.
Saturday: Full day(drinking) in RiNo with stops at Honey Elixir, The Block Distilling Co, and Death & Co. For food we would pop into Denver Central Market for lunch then uchi for dinner. And no sushi two days in a row is not too much!
Sunday: Walk to brunch at Le French then take my bestie to the airport while trying not to cry.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My page would not be possible without my husband Will. We spent a lot of money at first dining out so I could get content and he’s always ready to hold the camera in the perfect spot so I can get the best shot. My schedule is also crazy busy between juggling my full time job and The Blonde Food Sl*t and he keeps me grounded when it gets a little too hectic.
