We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Adkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I took a huge risk in my career recently. I had been teaching high school in Indiana for the past 19 years, and in Japan for 11 years before that. Last summer I had the rug pulled out from underneath my secure job. I had receive a year leave from teaching to be able to manage my sister’s wellness business in Indianapolis while she was gone for a year. As it turned out, she did not take her year off, which left me without a job and income for the year.

While I could have found a job in the area, I decided to take a big leap of faith and jump into my ‘side gig’ full time. But not only just try to build the business, but I also sold my house, everything in it, and moved intrastate to start from ground zero with my sound healing business. While this was a huge risk, not knowing people in the area or even the market for sound healing in the area, I felt it was my heart’s calling.

Once I made the decision and the move, things have been falling into place. I have made many friends and an amazing support network in just a short few months. I absolutely love what I do and am looking forward to welcoming even more people into sessions and my programs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I healed my own mind, body and spirit through sound healing and yoga. During a turbulent time in my life, I re-discovered yoga that also incorporated mantra chanting and crystal singing bowls. Taking daily classes, I noticed that I started to become not only physically stronger, but also mentally and emotionally. I began to rise out of my depression and see my life from a different lens.

I have used the energy work not only to heal myself but has also become a guide to help others on their healing journeys. I am now certified in sound healing, yoga, reiki and is an intuitive coach. I have made big transformational changes, including quitting my 30-year career to follow her heart’s calling.

I offer programs to empower women by helping them make big decisions in career with inner peace and clarity. Individual, private and group sound healing sessions are also available.

Originally from Indiana, I lived in Japan for eleven years after graduating with a BA in music from CU Boulder. While in Japan, I became a singer of Japanese traditional folk song and earned an MA in ethnomusicology from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. After returning to the US in 2000, I returned to Indiana and became a high school teacher of Japanese. In 2021, I took early retirement to follow my heart’s calling of moving back to the mountains of Colorado and guiding others on their healing journeys.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would spend most of the time hiking and enjoying the blue Colorado sky. We would visit Pulpit Peak, Garden of the Gods, and Manitou Springs.

We would do yoga at Hippie Soul Yoga in Interquest and experience the Harmonic Egg at Sacred Space Therapeutics.

We would visit a few coffee shops, such as Pike’s Perk and Kairos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Powerhouse Polkadots – Colorado Springs

This women’s networking group has been so supportive not only for my business, but also when my apartment flooded and I needed help moving my things very quickly.
