Meet Monica Faucheux | Artist and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Faucheux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think that as long as something gives you joy, it’s worth pursuing. There are plenty of times that things are hard or don’t make sense, but it doesn’t mean you should quit. If it were easy, everyone would do it. It can also be difficult to keep going when there is someone around every corner doing what you do, too. Find your joy, put your spin on what you do, and truck along. You got this.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to create meaningful gifts. With Mother’s Day coming up, I’m working on quite a few gifts that kids can customize for their mamas. Picture frames, craft kits, flower holders, magnets, and more! The gifts from the heart warm my heart so much. I think what sets me apart is that I don’t fit in a box and I don’t follow the crowd. I follow my heart. Anyone can copy what everyone else is doing, but I don’t want to be everyone else. I collect inspiration every day and pour it into things that feed my soul but with my own spin on them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m fortunate to be near so many fun cities in Wisconsin. If a friend were to visit, we would have to head to Decatur Dairy and grab a warm grilled cheese first (try one with pickles if you go). Fermenting Cellars would be another must stop for a glass of wine. They have a unique ambiance and I always feel at home here. Another stop we would have to make time for would be to grab a coffee at Mocha Moment. It’s the type of place you can linger and catch up while you bird watch on their beautiful balcony. There are so many other hidden gems nearby. If you have a chance, I hope you’ll visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many amazing cheerleaders in my life which I’m incredibly grateful for. I surely wouldn’t be here trucking along if it weren’t for a few helping hands along the way. I can’t thank just one person – anyone who has ever shared an encouraging word, waved at a market, “liked” a photo, given constructive criticism – it’s so appreciated. If you know someone out there hustling, lift them up a little bit. You never know how much it might mean to them.
