We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Valente and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia, what do you want people to remember about you?
I love this question because it’s rooted in intention. This lifetime’s legacy for me looks like the embodiment of pure love and expression. All of my work here is based on the foundation of love. I’d like to be remembered as someone who created space for those around to feel what it is like to be love. As someone who is safe enough for those to liberate themselves and express their truth. To be remembered by living my truth and inspiring others to do the same.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work ranges and is actually a little bit of everything! I’m a multifaceted artist, healer, creator, foodie… the list of expressions goes on. Ultimately, my food work has been evolving. It’s special because I honor my kitchen creations, while also documenting local/international meals. I’ve gotten here today by staying connected to what has fulfilled me on a soul level since childhood. Food has been a beautiful way of connection between many cultures and ways of living. It is one of the necessities that brings all of us together. I’ve overcome challenges on this path by remembering that sharing the many foods of this earth is important for our creativity and health. I’ve learned that on this path, I’ve attracted those who are willing to receive and share similar visions to what I see. It’s in this work that we can experience the joy of connection through food.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh immediately I would have to bring them to nature. Most likely the reservoir near my home. I’d definitely bring them to get a bite of Brazilian food. That’s a must try in this area. Maybe a street food tour of taco trucks – they’re the best authentic experiences of food and people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out my Aunt for putting her heart into her cooking. She has brought our family together through food and reminded me of my roots. Most of her life has been dedicated to making sure everybody is fed. Anytime I want a favorite meal, she’s there to make it immediately. It’s just something you gotta try in this lifetime and sorry if you can’t – she makes magic in the kitchen.
