We had the good fortune of connecting with Nigel King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nigel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Gosh, I want to say my thought process behind opening my own business was I wasnt doing badly before, but 7 years later working in one place I wasn’t really getting ahead either.
Sometimes you really do have to gamble it all in order to get ahead.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my best friends taught me how to bayalage hair…gosh what feels like 10 years ago at this point.
It changed the course of my entire 18 years behind the chair.

Its not that I dont foil hair anymore, it just doesn’t look as good as bayalage does and it is far more damaging to the hair over time.

Strange how one day can really change the entire course of your life.

Now ten years later the services I offer are more in alighnment with the health and integrity of my clients hair.

If it is going to greatly effect the integrity of someones hair I usually ask them to find another stylist.

Does this effect the amount of money I make?
Absolutely, but I can better sleep at night knowing im not destroying someones hair.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This question is terrible for me, im very introverted so my social battery is usually spent behind the chair.

Since I am a Taurus im all about eating ha ha.

Places I enjoyed visiting though is Jaya asian grill. Their beef rendang is so good.

Kiki’s red tacos is also incredible, literally everything on the menu.
