We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Sajbel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, what makes you happy? Why?

What makes me happy is just being able to go out and take photos or videos of whatever I want, the reason this makes me happy is because it allows me to focus on the subject at hand and allows me to forget about anything negative. When a plan is made for a photo shoot it allows me to come up with creative ideas on how I want the shoot to progress or how can I tell a story with this group of photos. As long as there is at least one person who understands or follows the concept behind my shoot I know I’ve done a job well done.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

What sets me apart from other artists or something that’s unique to me and my company is when you hire me you’re actually getting someone who’s color blind. The reason this makes me a unique choice is because I got a rarity and have both versions of color blindness. This has taught me that you don’t always need to see color to become a photographer, as long as you believe in yourself you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. With this challenge I figured that I would not only prove the people that said I couldn’t do it wrong but I would also prove to myself that I could do it. Another reason I’m unique is because of location, have you ever come to the mountains to ski but wished someone could make you a video or photos from your trip? Well look no further contact me and I will spend a day with you taking photos or video and will even edit those photos or video for you before you depart town.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Seeing as I live in a ski town, I would make sure we got to enjoy everything around. If it was winter, I would make sure to bring you out on the ski slopes as well as make sure that after a long day of skiing there was a hot tub to soak in after. But living in Breckenridge CO, has its own perks seeing as it’s such a small town we have awesome things around town like axe throwing to hidden wooden trolls for photo opportunities. If you wanted to you can also hike all around including to a lake on a mountain where there is fishing. I wish I could go on and on about what all we have up here but there is so much that we have to offer that you just need to come out and experience it for yourself.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

There are honestly too many people to thank all at once just know if you’re reading this and you impacted me in any way thank you! but I would like to dedicate this section to my family for simply believing in me and putting up with my stupidity while I figure out this crazy game called life, without them pushing me to be better I wouldn’t know what to do. Also I want to thank anyone who has given me an opportunity to prove myself without people like you. I wouldn’t know where to go.
