We had the good fortune of connecting with Roni Slavit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There were a lot of things that came to mind, but the one that stuck out the most was thinking of a way that I could showcase the power of the plants growing all around us. After graduating clinical herbalism school I was on a mission to spread all of the vast knowledge I was given. I wanted people to know and understand more about the planet we’re living on and all of the magnificent plants that inhabit it, especially in how these can help us lead a more balanced and healthy life. I wanted people to not feel alone or at a loss when trying to find clean affective affordable products or in general finding reliable information regarding their health and options out there. It really all boils down to having a deep desire to help, connect and work with others and finding a way to create this into a functioning business. I knew that this was going to be a long grueling process but that didn’t matter, what was most important was finding a way to create something productive and helpful out of the education I received and that passion that drives it all.
What should our readers know about your business?
Resiliency Herbals has two components; a product line and a consultation service. The product line is a skin care line showcasing the power of the plants. Each product is infused with a unique blend of herbs to deliver the most potent affective natural skin care to you and your loved ones. This is part of what makes these products so different from the vast majority we see on the shelves at the store. Instead of chemically derived ingredients I am pulling those desired vitamins and minerals naturally from the plants via an oil infusion and adding in any more natural ingredients needed to fully nourish, soothe, cleanse and hydrate the skin. A lot of skin care lines are water-based which tends to leave the skin more dried out or in general needing lots more product to get desired results, which is silly because our skin loves oils and needs them to fully function properly. So I make it a point to use oils that are similar if not the same pH as our skin in order for it to gently seep in versus sitting on the skin clogging and up the pores.
The consultation service is rooted in clinical herbalism, reiki, flower essence therapy and intuitive healing. What sets this service apart from others is that it is combining a variety of alternative healing modalities into one session. Instead of having to see multiple practitioners you’re able to address different needs or ailments your experiencing and together we will work through the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Of course, I cannot help with everything but in general I love that we can address the full system and dive deep into what is going on because it is all connected truly and working on the system as a whole can be much more beneficial than keeping everything separate.
As of now I would have to say I am most excited for farmers market season and showcasing the newer products I have released! I have so much fun getting to meet my customers in person and in general getting to talk with new and familiar faces. It truly just lights me up connecting with others and in general being surrounded by such creative badass people.
There have been so many lessons learned along the way, but some of the most important I’ve learned so far is that you are going to fail and that’s ok, but what is most important is to always connect back to why you’re doing this, hop back on that horse and ride it out because you’re truly not going to get anywhere unless you take the steps and show up. We’re capable of reaching our wildest dreams but only if we allow ourselves to claim it, to do the work to get there, to take care of yourself and truly believe it is possible because if we believe we will do whatever it takes to get there.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to all the good restaurants in town, food is a priority! I’m not too familiar with Denver, but would explore different restaurants, sushi and tacos is a must, and also take them to my favorites in Boulder and Nederland. I’m not much of a city gal, I grew up in New Jersey so I like to take advantage of the nature I never got to experience growing up. One of my favorite spots to take people close by is up canyon road into Nederland’s gorgeous hiking trails and making sure to stop for some BBQ of course. Red Rocks is also a wonderful must see as well as going to different concerts and places to dance in general!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible family, especially my parents. If it weren’t for their support, words of encouragement and vast efforts to enable me on this journey I truly would not be where I am today. It brings me to tears thinking of how much they believe in me and my work and how much they show that each time we talk. I am so grateful to have such open minded and understanding parents who were even open to me applying to herb school in the first place. We have learned so much from each other and I am just so grateful to all the lessons they’ve taught me as well as the advice and support they’ve given along this wild journey.
