We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Mayiras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my determination and drive. When I was 16 years old I was emancipated from my parents and this drive developed as a sink-or-swim methodology. I have always pushed and strived for more. This ambition has helped our company succeed. It was never really a question if we would succeed, but how we would succeed. We developed and tested different methods to obtain our goals. This has probably been the most important element to our brand’s success. Just never giving up and to always keep pushing forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Candid Studios Photography & Videography started when I purchased a camera to make YouTube videos. I then had a nice camera, so we started to get into weddings. We immediately gained traction and started to grow very quickly. I previously had a computer and mobile phone repair company. The computer company was enough to get me through college, but it did not have great profit margins. I immediately knew our photography business had some potential. We have been in business for a little over a year and we currently have a team of 10 photographers & videographers. We are working towards opening our commercial studio space in Colorado and then expanding to open a second location. We have faced many challenges along the way and we are always looking to improve and get better, but some of the things we do are just uncharted territory. We often are testing out new strategies through trial-and-error to figure out what works for us and what doesn’t. Iteration is a very important aspect to our company and we often revisit processes to figure out how we can improve and become better.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We shoot a lot of weddings up in Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park. If we have a friend visiting we always recommend they spend some time up in the mountains! We have a list of recommended wedding and elopement locations we often send to our clients for Breckenridge and Estes Park. Our recommended locations in Estes Park are 3M Curve, Alluvial Fan Bridge, Bear Lake Nature Trail, Copeland Lake, Harbison Meadow Picnic Area, Hidden Valley, Lily Lake Dock & Trail, and Moraine Park. Our favorite locations in Breckenridge are Sapphire Point, Rivertree Lodge, Hoosier Pass, Lake Dillon, Continental Falls, and Boreas Pass.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Kyle Channell, A.K.A. DJ Channell for recommending me for this opportunity.
