We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara, Celetse & Lucy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, Celetse & Lucy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We started Oh, Hello Design Co in 2019. Business was okay in the beginning, we experienced the normal up’s and down’s of owning a new business but a the end of the day, we didn’t really LOVE what we were doing. We took a look at the big picture and decided to mix things up. About six months into our new business, we adjusted our target audience and chose to work primarily with other female business owners because we wanted our work to be something that made a difference and had a lasting impact. Everyone on our team has had jobs in the past working in male dominated fields and we unanimously felt like female representation was undervalued, so we set out to change that. We believe that women in leadership roles are capable of changing our world and we want to be a part of that story. As business owners and female entrepreneurs, we understand the drive to create and run a business with a mission, that literally gives you life. Nothing beats the feeling of the real-life tangible results that our clients see when their branding brings them success in business. We believe thoughtful, genuine brand experiences help tell our clients story, find their people, and share an important mission with those who need it most.
What should our readers know about your business?
When we started Oh, Hello Design Co. we didn’t really have a target market. We simply took all the business we could get. We quickly learned this was not going to work long term. Creating brands for insurance companies, and big corporations wasn’t serving us and we were left feeling a little empty at the end of the day. When we pivoted towards working primarily with other females we were terrified our market wasn’t going to be sustainable long term. We are so damn thankful we trusted our gut and took a chance. Our business has been thriving since we changed things up and focused our efforts on attracting other powerful women to work with.
Despite a global pandemic, the worst president in US history, civil unrest and all the other joys that 2020 brought us, we’ve been able to create an incredible community of women here in Northern Colorado. Not to say this year was a walk in the park, but at the end of the day, being a company made entirely of women who work primarily with other women made this past year a little easier to handle.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our success has been made possible by the badass community of women in Northern Colorado. Thanks for trusting us with your branding – every single one of our clients truly kick ass.
