We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Murdock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I’ve learned that painting with bright, vivid colors brings me so much joy. This type of art lets me have fun and connect with my deep love for bold color combinations. I tend to find myself dancing or chatting with others while I paint, because I feel relaxed and in my element.
Interacting with my community at farmers markets or pop-up events also brings me a lot of joy, as I get to build connections with so many supportive and insightful vendors. When I’m spending time in the sunshine to showcase my work, I also get to witness customers’ reactions firsthand. Seeing them laugh, smile, or share a memory with each other because of something I created is incredibly fulfilling and inspires me to keep going.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My shop is full of delightful surprises waiting to be discovered. From free stickers, discounts, and new releases, to drawing prizes out of hats, I strive to make every visit to my shop memorable. This experience even extends to my website, where I offer a fun quiz to help customers find their perfect sticker match.
I am most proud of my ability to bring my wild ideas to life. Through a little imagination and persistence, I have been able to turn so many of my concepts into reality. My handmade art is more than just a product; it’s a way to spread joy, connect with others, and provide that temporary nostalgic relief from being an adult.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love hanging out in the RiNo Art District. As a former food truck employee outside of Improper City , I have watched RiNo explode into the colorful district it is now. When I feel like splurging, I get some crazy cool nails at RiNo Nail Bar, take some cute pictures in front of the amazing murals, and then share tapas with my friends at Barcelona Wine Bar. There’s countless food and drink options, but when in doubt, I can always rely on Odell Brewing Company.
For music lovers, I highly recommend checking out Nocturne. It is hands down the best jazz club in Denver. The combination of incredibly talented live musicians with their perfectly curated cocktails is out of this world.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
