Meet Tammy Black

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In my journey as a teacher, business owner and manager taking risks has been a catalyst for growth. Choosing to explore an unconventional path has expanded my understanding of business and enriched my offerings. By trusting my intuition and often stepping into the unknown, I’ve created a path for myself that is authentic to my lifestyle and given me a unique skillset to bring to my business as well as my job as a studio manager. Taking risks has not just shaped my career – it has defined it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For over three decades, I’ve been on a profound and evolving path of teaching yoga, meditation, and breathwork. I currently lead international yoga retreats, teach public classes and manage Yoga Pod Longmont. My work is rooted in deep commitment to authentic healing & inner transformation, drawing from decades of experience and study with master teachers from around the world. I’ve owned numerous businesses, starting from when I was 23 yrs old. Throughout the years, I have faced the typical business challenges/stressors…staffing, the economy, etc. I’ve always tried to meet those challenges with grace and resilience. Owning/managing a business requires courage, curiosity and a willingness to learn from your mistakes. What I’d like the world to know about my brand and my story is that it is important to step outside of your comfort zone from time to time. Take time to explore your inner landscape with honesty and compassion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were to entertain a friend that’s visiting from out the area there are so many things that I’d like for them to experience. We would have to explore the beautiful Colorado mountains: Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park and Brainard Lake would be top on the list. Of course, I’d take them to Yoga Pod for the best yoga classes in Boulder County. We would also have to dine at my favorite restaurants in Boulder and Longmont – Oak at Fourteenth, The Roost and Flavor of India.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my best friend and business partner, Stacie Finucan, for always encouraging me to shine my light brightly.
