We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always wanted to be an attorney and never thought I wanted to be a business owner, let alone someone who owned multiple businesses.

When I graduated law school, I accepted an associate attorney position at a corporate and commercial litigation firm. However, I hated litigation. Cases took years to resolve, hardly ever were all parties satisfied (which is not unusual for litigation), the practice wasn’t efficient, in my opinion, and the other attorneys were cold and crass. In addition to that, I felt no sense of community within the firm I worked for. I worked ridiculous hours and, even when I (rarely) took time off, I had nagging thoughts about work. I burnt myself out working in an unfulfilling practice.

While I worked that job, I started dreaming up THIS practice. I knew I could create a modern law firm that was not only a practice I enjoyed, but that was also one that better supported modern business owners. I knew it was possible. So, I worked to make it happen.

What should our readers know about your business?
My law firm, Williams Law, is a modern law firm for modern business owners. We provide businesses with tailored legal services to give them the foundation they need to confidently run their businesses. My practice focuses on trademarks and custom contracts for business owners to protect the businesses and brands they’ve created. I also created and launched a second business, The C-Suite, which is separate from my law firm. The C-Suite is a contract template shop aimed at providing modern business owners with attorney-drafted, easy to use contract templates (without the hourly rate).

I know that a majority of my clients appreciate that I talk to them like a human and do my best to help them understand the legal side of their business, rather than keep them in the dark and/or make it all even more confusing. I pride myself in that.

This year, I was named to the 2023 Top 50 Most Influential Young Professionals List in ColoradoBiz magazine.

I am so proud to say that I built this practice entirely on my own, from the ground up. I started with $0 in my bank account, 0 followers, 0 clients. It was not easy by any means. However, I firmly believe that if you remained focused and persistent in spite of the challenges and the struggles, success is inevitable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d eat at the following spots: Angelo’s in Littleton
Somebody People
El Five
Elway’s (in Cherry Creek)
Jack’s on Pearl

We’d take the mornings slow at Copper Door Coffee Roasters.

We would skip the Red Rocks visit and opt for an indoor Lagree workout at Pilates Evolution in Centennial.

We’d definitely have ice cream (or a root beer float) at Sweet Cow.

Grab drinks at Carboy one night and The Lazy Greyhound the next.

I’d also probably take them to The Weathered Wick because I’ve been wanting to make a custom candle!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a very long list of people I’d love to shoutout: my clients, family, friends, and colleagues. No woman is an island and there have been so many people along the way that have offered me that mentorship, love, and support.

Colorado’s woman-owned business network is beyond incredible. Not only is it an honor to help so many of them protect their incredible businesses and brands, but I have also very much valued the community I have found in those women. I have also been emboldened from the very beginning by my husband and his family and that support has been crucial to my success.
