The Coronavirus has given many us an opportunity to pause and think about life, our purpose, and even the right work life balance. What’s your perspective and has it changed over time?
Khayla Farmer | Hair Salon Owner
Without a doubt, the most important factor that fuels my success in business ownership is my family. After working dozens of different kinds of jobs, I realized that my inconsistency wasn’t doing my family any favors. For one reason or another, I couldn’t last longer than a year or two at any place of employment. I hated the type of work, I hated the manager, I hated the pay, I hated the hours, you name it, I had an excuse. The solution was simple. Create a space doing what I wanted, when I wanted, and a paycheck that I was in control of. Once that was established, the moral and ease of my family life was a thousand times smoother! Read more>>
Meranda Vieyra | Owner of Denver Legal Marketing
I think the most important factor behind my success is resilience. I have learned how to recover quickly as a business owner, especially as a small business owner. There are kinks in the process and forks in the road all the time – the only thing that you can control is how you react to these circumstances. I think my resilient mindset is contagious and helps my clients when we are working through their business’ changes, crises, etc. Read more>>

Alexis Gonzales | Founder & CEO of White Elk Beauty
From birth, I have had to do nothing but survive, endure, adapt, & overcome. I grew up in a very tumultuous household, riddled with generational trauma, secrecy, and repeated cycles. It’s why I chose an Elk as the centerpiece of my company. In some indigenous cultures, the elk is a symbol of divine protection & a life-giving force. When you think of an elk- you think of strength, courage, beauty, fighting against the elements & laughing in the face of all odds. But there’s a sense of balancing the archetypes of grit & delicacy there too. I think the most important factor behind my success was the pure spite that was keeping me & my dreams alive. When I exited my rehabilitation center in January of 2019- I had no job skills. Read more>>

Grant Thomas | Podcast Co-Host & Teacher
I think our dynamic has been the secret to our success so far. One of our favorite compliments is when people share that they feel like they are on a phone call with us. Or that it sounds like two of their friends are over and you’re all just having a conversation. We both genuinely really like each other. And the longer we make the “Well, I Laughed” podcast, the more we seem to enjoy each other. Read more>>
David Flora | Artistic Director
The most important factor behind our success is striving for excellence with limited resources. Creating a community that shares one common goal where everyone is putting their energy and creativity behind it helps us achieve this success. When people come to one of our events they know that it will be done to the highest level of quality that we are capable of producing. When we aren’t doing a serious drama, people know to associate our performances and events with being a fun and funny night out. We don’t think that people should only look to large cities for quality theatre; if there’s a willingness on our part to put in the work, folks can find quality theatre in their own backyard. We operate our business from our hearts, and have seen how our efforts together with our customers and partnerships result in a far greater impact than we could ever manage on our own. Together we are making a positive impact for our selves, our community, and our planet by spreading love and planting a tree for every item we sell. This has allowed us to add thousands of trees to depleted lands internationally, as well as community engagement and work opportunities locally. Read more>>
