There are so many factors that can play a role in determining our results, performance and ultimately our success, but some factors matter more than others. We asked folks what they felt was the most important factor driving their success.

Camilo Novoa | Traveller, Athlete & Surgeon

The most important factor in the success of what I do, at least from my perspective, is that it is non-profit. The main engine that moves me is the passion that I have for creating content for the reader to embark on a journey through my narrative and photographs, giving them the necessary knowledge and motivation to venture on their own. When you do anything that you are passionate about without focusing your success on financial goals it is unlikely that you will fail. Read more>>

Lisa Slagle | Creative Agency CEO

Courage. Entrepreneurship is a constant practice of courage. From listening to that little idea you know will change the world, to knowing how to articulate your value to having tough conversations with employees, the most important factor in the success of my creative agency, Wheelie, is having the courage to stand in our beliefs. This means saying no to amplifying brands whose values don’t align, and by helping other brands see the big YES that having courage provides. Read more>>

Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” As the owner of T. Hawk Studio, I tell personal stories through wearable art. Each piece is handcrafted which means I face design and fabrication challenges daily. I am also responsible for every aspect of my business, so I wear many different hats. As an artist I love working with my hands, but the business “stuff” can be overwhelming. Read more>>

Avital Rotbart | Creator of Lifelong Legacies

Time in a Bottle Photography views its mission as creating and preserving memories that will last a lifetime. We don’t just take photographs, we enshrine precious moments. Technical skill is an important ingredient in making sure our photos are of the highest quality. Equally important, however, is our interactions with our clients. We make the time to get to know them and understand how they want to feel when they see their photos. It’s a bit magical, but the more we are able to relate to the subjects of our photography, the better the images turn out. Read more>>

One of the most important factors behind our success is community involvement. We would not be able to thrive in a small mountain town without the tightness and involvement of our local community. Other factors include determination , habit, open mindedness, and creative exploration. We create out of habit, and we built our business from the ground up with no question of whether or not we would make it. Honing in on the manifestation of our common goals. We knew what we wanted to do, and we did it, not without the help of our local community. – Conor Ward and Brett Haynes (Founders of Bonedale Tattoo) Read more>>

Emcee Speakeasy | Hip-Hop Artist

Consistency. Wether it’s writing any chance I get, or getting behind a microphone every week to track songs, proud of them or not, it all results in baby steps closer to fulfilling the dream. I’ve taken weeks off of music, and it never feels right. My #SpitfireSaturdays series on social media helped me realize, any creation is good creation, and having the talent or skill to rap is just like being an athlete. We still have to train, prepare, both mentally and physically. Read more>>
