Meet Lindsey Jamison | Lead Designer/Co-owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
When we opened our retail store/design studio we wanted it to be open to the community. If you aren’t interested in design services you can still come by and shop our retail store or enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine from our cafe. Rumor Design + Redesign, which provides interior design services, and R | D Home, which belongs in its own category. Part retail store, part coffee shop and part inspirational space, R | D Home sells home furnishings and accessories, including work by local artists. Additionally, it’s a stylish place to gather. The building was established in the late 1800s. Many community members remember the building when it was a car dealership, mall, and a variety of restaurants through the years. It’s nice to open the space for the community. We also donate to variety of local groups including Steamboat Soccer Club, High Altitude Basketball, Steamboat Dance Theater, Lift Up to name a few. We’re part of our First Friday Artwalk where we host local artists to showcase their artwork for the month. It’s another way to give back and support our art community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Whether creating the ideal furniture layout or tackling an addition, remodel, or new build; there are many options to consider that are unique to your project. That’s why people hire us! Our expertise is derived from years of experience and daily interactions with the various trades, specialized craftsmen, and vendors. It’s always exciting and never a dull moment. I’m so lucky to get to come to work everyday with a team I enjoy, doing what I do best, creating!
We have so much to be proud of. We opened a new retail showroom this year, a coffee shop/wine bar, and have the most amazing clients. What sets us apart from other design firms is our aesthetic. We don’t categorize our style into one look. When you look at our portfolio we have so many different styles that represent Rumor Design. You will notice we add a “Rumor Flair” with a touch of color or pattern to even the most neutral/monochromatic spaces. We never forget to add a little wow factor.
One of the most important lessons learned through the years is how important a client-designer relationship is. You can be working in a project for many years so a respectful healthy relationship is the key to success. Also, to remember to have fun. There are a lot of decisons to be made from door swing directions, grout colors, to drapery and furniture selections. The design process should be fun and lighthearted.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many wonderful things to do in Steamboat. The majority of people visit Steamboat in the winter to ski, we’re considered Ski Town USA! Although every season summer is becoming more popular. The summer months are filled with tubing down the Yampa River, fly fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. There are so many beautiful hikes right in the middle of town. You can hike with your family at Spring Creek, Fish Creek Falls, Emerald Mountain to name a few. After a full day of activities we usually ride our bikes to a happy hour or dinner along the Yampa. There are many great hh/dining spots including Aurum, Laundry, Creekside Cafe, Taco Cabo to name a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A shoutout to our talented team. We truly have an amazing team that continues to think outside the box on all levels. We believe that collaboration is the key to success. Our firm is continuing to grow and we are so lucky to have such a talented team that is able to design within an array of styles. Clients come to us from all over the country with different design needs and perspectives. Modern, traditional, eclectic, minimal — our team of designers can accomplish all of these looks. They are also very conscientious about function; not only are clients getting a great design, but one that works well. Kuddos to our creatives!
