Meet Alexios Anest | Guitarist & Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexios Anest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexios, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up on a farm in a tiny town in Nebraska. There was a lot of hard work on the farm, but also a lot of freedom. That really shaped my perspective in life, because I really value my freedom and I am not afraid to work it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have 4 albums of original music, with a 5th to be released October 11 which is also the date of my next live show in Denver!
My music is a reflection of my experiences, from growing up listening to classic rock and metal, to studying classical music intensely in college, to living in Spain for awhile in my twenties to learn flamenco guitar.
I think the main thing that sets me apart is my range of abilities within music. I have a deep love for many different genres and have spent lots of time absorbing their influence. This diversity was one of the reasons I was chosen to be a soloist for one of today’s leading film composers, Hans Zimmer.
While I don’t think I would describe the journey so far as “easy”, having an obsession with music definitely made things more simple along the way, as I never really struggled with what I wanted to do. I always trusted my instincts and they always have lead me to where I am supposed to be.
The main challenge I faced, like every artist, is how to make a living. I have of course had to do many gigs that were not very rewarding, but having my main goal of eventually living from my own works has helped along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite hobbies outside of music is archery. I like to go to Rocky Mountain Specialty archery range in Wheat Ridge.
Federal blvd has all the best restaurants, pretty much anything authentic Mexican or Asian.
Hiking Green mountain is one of my favorite things because it is close to the city and really peaceful.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank Aleksandra Šuklar for recommending me for this interview and for always supporting me 🙂
And of course my parents who have supported my dreams my whole life.
