Meet Abubaker Katende | Mechanical Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abubaker Katende and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abubaker, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To fulfil my dreams and gain control of my own success. Like each day has it own motivations and challenges, so being able to deal with such enabled me know and determine that my own daily hard work and daily rewards depended on those key factors..

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Elit Liability Management are a team of Professional Insurance Loss assessors with over 15 years experience in the insurance sector. We are specialists in insurance claims assessment as a result of factors such as fire, flood, storm, and burglary damage to mention but a few.
Majority of players in the market only offer a few services but at Elit Liability Management Ltd we offer a wide range of services to fulfil and narrow down the service provision gap to customer’s satisfactions. Some of our services include Loss Assessment, Loss Adjustments, Valuations (property, land, motor vehicles), insurance surveys and Cyber/Information Security.
It has been a tough journey to where the company is right now, but through persistence, motivation and a strong working team we can visualize the company is breaking even over the years.
The lessons learned are success does not come easy, never to be afraid to take risks and it takes a strong motivated team to get things done.
We now have considerable experience in the insurance sector for a good number of years and we extensively considering extending our services throughout East Africa in the next 2 years despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I would like the world to know that we live and work in risk environments and without risks involved in what we do or believe in, the possibility of fulfilling our goals/dreams in next to none.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Pick them from the Airport and head straight to the previously booked hotel(s).
Day 2: Hit the road to Murchison falls national park which is located Northwest of Uganda from Central Business District to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the water falls and also be able to see/track a variety of wild animals during day time. With various types of accommodation available we would go for tents and set them close by the main area where we could get to see more animals roaming around at night. The park offers excellent food types from veg to non-veg.
Day 4: Hit the road and head straight to the source of the Nile river the longest river in the world located towards Eastern Uganda. Accommodation is excellent and is up to 4 or 5 star level with lots of tourists from all over the world flocking the area. .
Day 5: Opt for boat rafting or bungee jumping. Hotels at the source of the Nile offer a vide range of fish types served with local/international dishes. Later in the evening, we would look out for hangout joints and get to learn more about the culture and night life.
Day 5: Hit the road and head back to Central Business District. On our way, we would make various stops and get to buy some locally made crafts, clothes as souvenirs.
Day 6: Move around Central Business District for extra shopping, discoveries, getting to learn more about the local culture and way of life.
Day 7: Drop off to the airport to catch a flight.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize my entire family, my Mom, my brothers and a sister who have consistently given me the motivation and courage to aim higher.
I recognize my business partner my youngest brother Shaffeque Tebusweke a Cyber Security Engineer who has added great value and contribution to the company in the line of Cyber Security and also being able to inspire others to have hope and succeed accordingly.
I would also like to recognize the staff at Elit Liability Management Ltd for their continued service and support rendered to our clients, and being able to find creative ways to connect with them especially throughout this pandemic.
