We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriane and Marco Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriane and Marco, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Marco received his first DSLR from his father as a birthday present over ten years ago, and quickly took to photography. His first models were mostly his mother, actor friends, and of course the family dogs. When Marco and I met in college, in 2013, I immediately recognized the advanced skill and artful eye Marco had for actor headshots in particular. As most photographers know, headshots are extremely niche, and take many years to master. When we met, Marco was offering to take headshots for our classmates for just $40. I knew that there was potential for so much more, so I took it upon myself to build him a website and create social media accounts. From then on, I was in charge of all client contact, scheduling, and social media management. This allowed Marco the time to work with more clients, improve his skills further, and continue to build a solid reputation for what really became Marco Robinson Photo.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that sets us apart from other headshot photographers is the fact that we are also actors! Marco and I have had years of experience in front of the camera as well as behind it. This gives us an edge when communicating with our clients. We know that they need out of their headshots, because they are the same qualities that we continue to need as professional performers. Our headshots are meant to showcase the client’s authentic personality. The adjectives our clients most often use to describe us are “fun” “warm” and “caring”. This praise means the world to us since it is exactly what we desire our brand to reflect. In recent years, we have branched out from headshot photography, and now capture engagement, personal branding, family, weddings, and boudoir photography – just to name a few. Marco has taught me everything I know, and I have now taken over as a second shooter for any photoshoot that isn’t headshots.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Before the hit of Covid-19 last year, we loved visiting Denver’s Botanical Gardens (in any season). We could spend hours roaming around the grounds! After a sun-soaked day at the gardens, we would find patio seating at Machete Tequila and Tacos in Denver. Their squid ink tacos are as beautiful as they are delicious!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
For the first few years, our only clients were the students and staff at The University of Northern Colorado. These folks trusted us to take good care of them and provide a quality service despite our youth and small portfolio at the time. Now, nearly eight years later, the Musical Theatre, Acting, and Design/Tech programs continue to hire us to capture their senior year Showcase headshots. We are honored to have their loyalty and trust.
