We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Clemmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My father is a fine artist, so I grew up with brushes and paint as part of my toys. Its almost like I didn’t really pick or decide to pursue, it is simply who I am. It is something I do everyday. I used to post my art on IG and FB and the XMRadio Disney developers assistant contacted me wondering what my art was etc. It just took off from there, got a sponsorship with a paint marker company and started traveling around the country for surf events doing live paintings.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is about expressing who I am, the things I’ve seen, places I’ve been to, music, snow, the ocean! I like to think my work is authentic and colorful. My goal is to make people feel good. I’ve been painting professionally for the past 11 years, not that long for an artist career. In the past 11 years it seems like I started from zero but I’ve never stopped painting or trying. Ive had a couple of galleries, been in galleries. I used to sell paintings for $10 when I started, now I have been shipping paintings all over the US, Europe and South America. I’ve dedicated my life to art. I think dedication, consistent work and not giving up have made a huge difference! Best lesson I’ve learned is to be your self don’t be afraid to show the world who you are as an artist, not everyone is going to like your art work and only one person needs to be touched and understand that one piece of work, if you paint without inhibitions your best work will most likely happen. I’m most excited to continue to paint and share my art with the entire world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to snowboard, so we would have to go snowboarding a few days and then hit some art installations, vegan restaurants and some good music! whatever is happening at the time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to my friends and family and of course my community, they have always stood behind me, recognized my work, they keep me inspired and allow me to be who I really am. All the collectors, they allow me to keep expressing myself! I am forever grateful.
