We had the good fortune of connecting with April Adventuring and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The main goals of April Adventuring are to empower and inspire folks to get outdoors more and to help protect the planet through environmental education. To me these goals go hand in hand. David Attenborough (one of my heroes) phrased it best when he said, “No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced.”

It’s pretty hard not to want to help preserve our planet when you’ve had the opportunity to explore the wonders of the natural world. I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest surrounded by mountains, alpine lakes, evergreen forests, and the ocean. It was second nature to be connected to the outside world.

It took a long time for me to see the realities of how much damage humanity has brought to our planet. I suddenly felt a frantic need to do my part for sustainability and to explore as much of the world as possible before it disappeared or was changed forever. After countless hours of researching and a growing sense of dread, I realized I could have a greater impact by sharing these thoughts with as many people as possible and April Adventuring was born.

Through April Adventuring I hope to get as many people as possible to find their own outdoor adventures and connect with our mother earth. I know that connection naturally moves people to find their inner eco warrior and learn to respect our planet. I’m here to give people as much guidance as I can for all the steps in this journey with tips on everything from hiking and backpacking to sustainability and reducing your carbon footprint!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand fell into place pretty quickly since it’s a reflection of me as a whole. April Adventuring includes all aspects of my life, but tells a complete story that gives people a glance into who I am and what I stand for.

What sets me apart in the influencer space is my level of authenticity. I keep it real with my audience and hope to connect with them as friends, fellow adventurers, and citizens of this planet.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Seattle is truly a one-of-a-kind city with so much to experience. I love to start an adventure by picking up food and coffee for the road. Dough Joy (best donuts, vegan or otherwise, you’ll ever have) and PIM Coffee & Bikes (soyrizo burrito cannot be beat) are my go-to’s.

Gas Works Park has one of my favorite views of the city from across the water. Set up a picnic here on the grassy hill and watch the seaplanes take off. For some nature outside the city, there are countless hikes. Some favorites are Lake 22, Maple Pass, and anywhere in the Olympic National Park.

For food, there are some fantastic vegan spots to check out. Galaxy Rune has the best vegan burgers and pulled pork sandwiches I’ve ever had. Harvest Beat is the spot for a special occasion featuring an incredible five course meal prepared with seasonal produce and foraged finds.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give credit to my wonderful friends, new and old, that have supported me over the years. They’ve liked all my posts when I had no followers, put up with my nagging about recycling, created music for my YouTube videos (shoutout to Occidental Productions!), and gone to all the vegan restaurants with me!
