We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashleigh Rankin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashleigh, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always enjoyed working, especially when you can see the impact of your work and believe you are doing something good for other people. Unfortunately, I didn’t always love the restrictions when working for other people and wanted to have the opportunity to express my beliefs in my work. Starting a Christian counseling company provided that freedom and has been a welcomed change for both myself and my clients

What should our readers know about your business?
As a counselor I care deeply about improving the mental health of my clients, largely because I received help when I needed it and I believe it’s possible. You don’t have to live a life that’s not fulfilling or seems under a cloud of depression and wrought with anxiety. Help is available and change is possible! What sets me apart from other counselors is my ability to see the big picture and provide insight into your operating system so we quickly identify what needs to change to make things better quickly! As a Christian Counselor I integrate prayer and a biblical foundation which provides a common ground for myself and my clients that keeps us tethered to the truth and enlists a higher power for our hope and healing. It is my greatest honor to be invited into your most vulnerable times and asked to come along side to help you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our day would start with an early morning brisk walk around my neighborhood, a quiet space tucked away in a suburban city with a beautiful gravel path and lake to watch the sun rise! Then we would tee off on the beautiful golf course in my neighborhood and play a quick but fun round of 9 holes, walking the whole time to get more steps in but also to help us find our balls more easily! Then off to lunch, some place special and local that serves great food but has an atmosphere where you feel like skipping the rest of the day to chat and catch up and taste more of the favorite dishes. Afterwards we would walk up down the streets of littleton shops to buy local goods only sold at small boutiques. At the end of the full day, it’s back to my home, where I would enjoy prepping a tasty meal for my best friend and enjoying a glass of wine on my back patio with my family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has been a big support for me in starting my own business and encouraging me to take a risk in trying something I’ve never done before. My skills are in people and relationships, not accounting, taxes, paperwork, etc… as a result I rely on his business skills often. He also helped with the funds to start my business and never hesitates to step in with our kids and home life when my work requires extra time.
Additionally, I’m grateful to my faith, which has been the reason for starting a Christian Counseling company. I knew I couldn’t help people without God as the foundation for our hope and our reason for change. It was a risk to include my faith, but I believe that is what keeps clients coming back – the simple fact that we have something in common that is bigger and more powerful than our own efforts.
