We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Yuen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor for me, is being genuine and enjoying the content I create. I absolutely LOVE content creation. Whether it’s snapping some product photos or compiling a full blown video edit. Showing enthusiasm towards a product with a genuine negative or positive review really hits it home with my audience.

Growing up, my Dad owned a restaurant. He was avid to show my brother and I what a strong work ethic is. Fast forward to present and I’ve always put my 110% effort in anything I do regarding my personal life/brand.

Staying consistent has also lead to the success of my brand. If you are at all a social media expert or have a YouTube channel yourself, you’ll understand that the more consistent you are, the more often a viewer will return to see your content.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my content apart from the rest, is the minimalistic style that I produce for my videos and photos. Keeping things clean and very subject focused is my forte. I try my very best to “one-up” my previous project and that’s what’s helped catapult my Everyday Minimalist brand.

The thing I’m most proud of is seeing how far I’ve come in the quality of content I make. I started off with an 8 year old camera that was on it’s last leg and not knowing how to edit photos/videos. Of course when I look back to my first videos (back in 2020), I cringe a little. But it shows how far I’ve progressed and all the knowledge I’ve gained.

I originally started Everyday Minimalist in 2020. Instagram was my first platform and then making videos on YouTube/TikTok a month after. It was definitely a struggle.. I posted once a day for about a month straight, just so I could get into a rhythm. In late 2021, TikTok had banned my account of over 580k followers. This was a massive blow to Everyday Minimalist. However, I took it as an opportunity to post more often on YouTube shorts. Since then, my YouTube channel went from about 15k subscribers to now over 330k.

I’ve learned a lot through my career. Pushing through the speed bumps and not letting them get me down was the best thing that happened to me. It was a very humbling experience. As long as you learn from failure, you WILL SUCCEED.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Salt Lake City is a beautiful city! I would show them all about the UT outdoors by bringing them to our world renowned Red Rocks. Specifically, MOAB. This would be a week long overlanding adventure in my 4Runner w/rooftop tent.

We would go wheeling in the beautiful desert terrain and hit up the grocery store for a fresh homemade meal.

Then we would head up to the Uintah Mountains, visit breathtaking lakes and setup up camp afterwards.

Utah is all about the outdoors, and you best bet I LOVE IT here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout-out goes to edc_and_me (Niels)

This man has mentored me in my skill of photography. From day one, after starting my Instagram account, I looked up to Niels and his product photography. After about 6 months of following him, he had reached out with a simple “Nice work!” and it all started from there.

He’s taught me so many different skills through our friendship and I am forever grateful.
