We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly going through chiropractic school I never wanted to start my own business. I wanted to be a great clinician and not have to worry about anything else. Then I started working in the profession and realized why so many eventually start their own business. I realized the lack of standard of care and lack of communication among the practitioner to the patient. I wanted to create a place with transparency. People know that they will come to a place. Get educated on what is happening/causing the injury that they have. Then have things that they can do on their own to get themselves out of pain and moving better. I wanted them to feel a sense of empowerment instead of feeling like they can’t be pain free without coming to see me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
GRIT is different due to the amount of patient education and exercise specific plan for each person to help them take control. Not only getting them out of pain, but working on the underlying issue. I recently just started my business in beginning of January. Definitely has not been easy since we are still in a pandemic. Just for me learning all the business and marketing things has been difficulty and i’m far from done. I would prefer to do more in person marketing, but with restrictions the options for that are limited. I have learned to always ask. The worst case scenario someone is going to say no. It’s okay to ask for help (still might be learning this one). I have to be more aggressive about opportunities. I designed GRIT meaning Gaining Resilience Integrative Therapy. At GRIT we are going to help you not only in the present, but for your future activities. No ones care is ever going to look exactly a like because no ones movement or injury is the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still exploring myself. I definitely don’t think you can go wrong with any hike out here. Maybe one or two in Rocky Mountain National Park and then a few just around Boulder. Brewery hopping there are way to many to choose from. Pizza Locale is definitely a must. I like Avanti due to the multiple options that way there can be something for everyone. Depending on the friend they are probably coming to CrossFit Roots with me to meet the community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, mentor Dr. Jacob Perkins, DC, and the ladies at prsportslab Kate and Sarah.
