We had the good fortune of connecting with Daria Polenova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a first time mom and feeding my daughter healthy is one of my biggest concerns. Unfortunately majority of children’s food products in stores are full of sugar/preservatives/GMOs. On top of that we’re always on the go. From daycare, to the park, to the grocery store, a life with a toddler is always busy. I was buying products I knew she liked from grocery stores, simply because I had no time to research better food brands online or buy things in bulk we’ve never tried before. I finally found the time during the COVID lock down to learn about the food industry and started curating healthy snacks for me and my mom friends. The boxes became incredibly popular amongst my friends and have evolved into a full blown business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After I had my daughter, I didn’t know where to start when it came to feeding her, and like most parents was lost in the kids aisle of grocery stores. From formulas to teething biscuits, the world of baby food was overwhelming but at the same time limited to the options that our local grocery store presented to us, which weren’t always the healthiest. It was almost impossible to find products that weren’t packed with preservatives and added sugar. That’s why I set out to build a marketplace that offers unique brands with delicious snacks that put healthy ingredients first.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever my family or friends come to visit CO, I alway try to take them out to the mountains. Growing up in NYC, barely ever got to get out of the city and be close to nature. Ouray is one of my favorite places to go in Colorado if you have time for a long road trip. Red Rocks is a beautiful spot if you only have a couple of hours to kill.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my story to all of the mothers out in the world, who are doing an incredible job juggling work, family and everything in between. My goal has always been to help other parents and it humbles me to know, that it may actually be the case.
