We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started DES Marketing | Design. Events. Solutions. with the goal of guiding small to mid-size businesses throughout Colorado to position their company for manageable growth and success. Through branding, a strategic marketing and communications plan as well as, activating digital marketing platforms, we will position companies for success and measure their ROI along the way.
What should our readers know about your business?
DES Marketing – Design. Events. Solutions. opened its doors in December, 1999. I was in the process of selling a family-owned and operated special event decor company and was ready to make the move into the marketing, branding and advertising world. At that time, the majority of our clients were corporate; AT&T, Qwest Communications, TeleTech and many others. The DES Marketing team traveled throughout the U.S. as well as Canada producing their product launches, shareholders meetings, and employee recognition events. It was an exciting time and I was honored to partner with many of the talented colleagues that I had worked with for the past 10 years in the special events sector. In 2003, I was ready to dive back into the hospitality industry and stay closer to home. I worked with several caterers, production and entertainment companies and special event venues and in 2006 was approached by the City of Glendale to launch a rebrand through the sport of rugby. Our contract lasted 12 years during which time we promoted men’s and women’s amateur rugby and later professional rugby, launched an event center, sports center, and promoted a wide-variety of community as well as private events. In 2019, it was time to focus on rebuilding DES Marketing’s brand. Today, we are excited about all of the new opportunities being presented. From international and best-selling authors, senior care, luxury museums to marketing for colleagues in the restaurant and hospitality industry, DES Marketing is back home.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend comes to Denver a few times each year and we always head to the mountains; Vail is our top pick followed by Breckinridge, WinterPark and Keystone. We rent a home in or near town and spend time hiking, shopping, dining out, day spa, cooking, and catching up. It’s absolutely the best.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was inspired by my brother, Ronald C. Anderson (Ron) who started a family business, Atmosphere, Inc. – Creating the Event – in 1982. Atmosphere specialized in designing customized wedding and themed decor throughout Colorado as well as, on a national basis. I joined the family business in 1986 and was in charge of opening up the corporate sector. Ron’s ability to manage a large team while acting as the lead visionary and key designer on all projects, inspired me to open my marketing business in 2000.
