We had the good fortune of connecting with Janette Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janette, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I think one of the habits that has helped my throughout my career is being consistent no matter how i feel.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Coming into this industry the most important thing to me was that I learned as much as I could about all aspects of the business. I wanted to be able to sit someone in my chair and not have to turn them away because I did not know how to do the specific service they asked for. I specialize in the Braid and Fade. Being able to do both in one session sets me apart because a majority of people in my industry can only do one or the other. I love that when my clients leave my chair they leave with there entire braid and fade service done. Realizing that I wanted to be in the Barber/Beauty industry was interesting because all I knew was the medical field prior to that. Putting myself through school , working and being a mother was challenging but definitely worth all of the obstacles, I set a goal for myself and I persevered regardless of any circumstance I faced. Consistency is key! Throughout this journey I’ve learned that sometimes you have to just go for it. Don’t let fear hold you back from the things you want in life. Set goals and stick to them. Be a light to others and don’t give up! What I want people to know about me and my brand is that I’m still not were I want to be but I’m not where I used to be and that is growth that anyone can achieve.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Going out for a night on the town I’d definitely be going to eat a steakhouse to start off. Possibly going to walk it off at the Pueblo Riverwalk after ward I love the lights in the evening time. For a week of events we may have to take a trip to Denver or Colorado springs. Shopping at the 16th street mall or Cherry Creek Center is a few of my favorites. I love all of the local taco trucks you cant go wrong ! Lastly depending on the time of year we’d have to go either Elitch Gardens Water World . Denver aquarium is amazingfor indoor activity and they have great food there as well !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Id love to show recognition to my children and family who are my driving forces everyday to grow and be my best self. Also Id like to thank my co workers and bosses of past and present shops who have all taught me and uplifted me in some way shape or form.
