Meet Karl Weber | Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karl Weber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karl, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Entrepreneurship has always been a goal of mine. Once I learned it was possible for a Nurse Practitioner to have their own practice in Colorado, I did not hesitate. Having my own business has enabled me to provide an income for my family while spending as much time with them as possible. I am able to drop my kids off at school, pick them up, and attend all their extracurricular activities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After serving in the U.S. Navy as a Weapons Systems Specialist, I transitioned into civilian life with a B.S. in Finance earned while deployed at sea. Following my service, I completed an M.S. in Entrepreneurial Management at the University of Colorado, intending to start my own business. I quickly realized that while I understood business theory, I lacked a concrete skill set that could sustain a company without speculation—and I knew a conventional 9-to-5 path wasn’t for me.
In 2016, I began my medical career by training as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). That experience revealed both my passion for medicine and the financial limitations of the role, prompting me to advance to Paramedic and then into the Paramedic-to-RN bridge program at Pueblo Community College. Nursing provided the financial stability and purpose I had been seeking, and it became clear I wanted to advance further.
I pursued a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health, becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). During my clinical training, I discovered that nurse practitioners in Colorado could operate independent practices—a realization that reignited my entrepreneurial drive. Combining my background in business, finance, and healthcare, I founded Royal Gorge Psychiatry (RGP), LLC, a telehealth-based outpatient mental health practice.
At RGP, I provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. My goal is to make evidence-based psychiatric care accessible, efficient, and personalized—serving patients across Colorado with the flexibility and confidentiality that telehealth offers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Canon City, Colorado. There are several amazing places to see out here such as The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, the Arkansas River which consists of gold water fishing, whitewater rafting, and family friendly tubing. We are fortunate enough to have a nice selection of great food in the area. Homer’s Gumbo Pot, Yummy Thai, Pizza Madness, Nirvana curry, MoMo Sushi etc.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Adrienne. It took me 7 years to go from paramedic to Nurse Practitioner. It required obtaining another associates degree, bachelors degree, and a second masters degree. 2.5 years of clinicals and countless hours of Adrienne picking up the slack when it comes to managing the children’s day to day. Without my wife Adrienne, going back to school for so long then starting my own company would not have been possible.
