We had the good fortune of connecting with Kilena De Cuyper De Cuyper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kilena De Cuyper, what role has risk played in your life or career?
From the moment I took risks, my life changed 180°. I used to be a shy and insecure girl. I looked up to people who were successful and self-confident. Then things happened and I got depressed. I said to myself: “What do you have to lose?. I just started looking at the characteristics of the person I wanted to become. If you study self-confident people for example, you see that they always walk with their head held high, that they dare to talk and share their opinions, are not afraid of other people’s opinions,… I started doing all these things. You immediately see that you attract a different type of people. Successful people are more likely to talk to confident people instead of someone shy. I’m not shy anymore and I dare to ask a lot more things. Since then I participated in a TV program and made many connections. Meanwhile, I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of. It can always be better, but I am already very happy at the moment. If you want something, you have to work for it. You’re going to fail a lot, but that’s the only way to improve. You can only improve when you step outside your comfort zone.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m not really an artist yet or I haven’t really accomplished much but I can talk about my social media. I’m not super famous on here yet either but I do my own thing. I’ve been someone I wasn’t for so long and now I’m honest ove myself, maybe too honest sometimes. So my stories are definitely not perfect. I film something and I put it on without thinking, I want my followers to know what my life is really like and not the fake life. A lot of my friends get a lot of deals assigned and such and I get less and this is probably because of my “unprofessional behavior”. I have no intention of adjusting myself for now, but I may have to find a middle ground. I want to appear as sincere, but I do want to
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go to Balaton with the organization “Route Du Soleil”. I just went on a ski trip with Route Du Soleil and Tagmag and I had the best time of my life. I love it when fun activities are planned and I don’t have to worry about anything. We are going to Balaton Sound this summer and that is my favorite place in the world. Good weather, cheap drinks, the best music and a lake and my favorite people all together, it can’t get much better. I like people who can have fun from the beginning to the end. The rest all doesn’t matter much just a great time with great people.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe my strong character to myself. A little shy girl doesn’t get much done and I changed that myself. Simon Smetryns, the boss of Tagmag, is the person who changed my life. He is the first person that really believed in me. I have never felt more at home then when I am with him. Thanks to him, I met a lot of new people who are now like family to me. I also moved to Ghent where everyone lives. Sometimes you just need someone to believe in you and give you a push.
