Meet Maya Schultz | Relationship + Family Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maya, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Evolved Relating exists to create ripples of healing and connection in families, partnerships, and communities through Relationship + Family Coaching. Rooted in my background as a Marriage + Family Therapist (MA MFT), elementary educator, and serial entrepreneur, my work integrates systemic awareness with practical tools for relational growth. By helping people communicate authentically, repair ruptures, and navigate complexity with compassion, Evolved Relating supports systemic change—one relationship at a time.
The social impact is both personal and collective. When individuals and families learn to relate with self-awareness and respect, they break cycles of disconnection and model healthier patterns for children, communities, and future generations. This work fosters emotional literacy, empathy, and collaboration—essential ingredients for a more resilient and compassionate world.
My commitment to community impact extends beyond coaching. Each of my ventures carries a social kickback component:
My fundraising ATMs have supported environmental nonprofits, reinvesting profits back into community well-being.
My coaching practice maintains sliding-scale spaces, ensuring that meaningful support remains accessible to those who need it most while maintaining sustainability through equitable pricing.
My office rentals offer hourly and daily options for practitioners who are growing their own practices, supporting the next generation of community-based professionals.
Through these initiatives, I aim to create a ripple effect of empowerment, integrity, and collective care—helping individuals and systems evolve toward greater harmony and purpose.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been passionate about creating work that aligns with my values—businesses that not only support me and my family, but also give back to the community. My first company, a fundraising ATM business, began as a way to generate residual income while maintaining a flexible schedule. It turned into something much more meaningful. Our machines supported local small businesses and environmental nonprofits, creating a ripple effect of community support. It was wildly successful for years, and though the pandemic eventually impacted it, I look back on that season as one of the best learning experiences of my life.
My coaching practice, Evolved Relating, was born from my time as a teacher. Parents often asked me to “fix” their children, but I realized the real change needed to happen at home. Kids were responding to the systems they lived in. That insight inspired me to pursue my Master’s in Marriage + Family Therapy, so I could help families create lasting, systemic change—building harmony in their relationships and sustainability for the long term.
In addition, I’ve built a beautiful, flexible office suite that serves as a sanctuary for other practitioners who are growing their practices. It’s designed for people who want to work part-time or need an inspiring, peaceful space to meet with clients. Supporting other healers, coaches, and entrepreneurs in building their dreams feels like a natural extension of everything I stand for.
It hasn’t been easy. I’ve hustled, pivoted, and learned through every challenge—but I wouldn’t trade any of it. Over the years, I’ve built multiple sustainable businesses that reflect who I am and how I want to live. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you have to start with the big picture of the life you want—then work backward to design it with intention. It won’t be easy at first, but when your work aligns with your values, it feels less like “work” and more like a purpose-driven path.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I do—whether it’s coaching, community building, or entrepreneurship—is rooted in connection, integrity, and contribution. I believe that when we create from those values, we not only build successful businesses, but also help evolve the systems we’re part of—for ourselves, our families, and the world around us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
After living in Boulder for more than 20 years, I absolutely love to host friends and show them why I’ve never left! The week would be a mix of great food, mountain air, local gems, and restorative downtime.
We’d start our mornings with a cozy breakfast at Lucky’s Café or Bakeshop in North Boulder—both spots have that warm, local feel and the best pastries and coffee. Downtown, Lucile’s is perfect for a southern-style brunch, and Dushanbe Teahouse is a must for its global charm and colorful, hand-carved interior.
For lunch or dinner, we’d rotate between my Boulder favorites: Oak for seasonal dishes, Blackbelly for farm-to-table perfection, Hapa or Japango for sushi, and the community energy of Avanti or Rosetta Hall for a relaxed evening with great cocktails and mountain views.
No trip to Boulder is complete without time outdoors. We’d hike Chautauqua, Lion’s Lair, or Anemone Trail—all offering stunning views and that classic Boulder serenity. One day we’d head up to Nederland to explore Brainard Lake, maybe stopping for coffee and live music in town.
And because I believe in a good balance of adventure and relaxation, we’d end the week soaking in one of Colorado’s incredible hot springs. Glenwood, Cottonwood, and Mt. Princeton are all fantastic, but my personal favorite is Avalanche Ranch—if you can snag a cabin there, it’s pure magic.
By the end of the week, my goal would be for my friend to fall a little in love with Boulder too—the blend of nature, creativity, good food, and the kind of people who make every conversation feel meaningful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been really lucky to have some incredible people shape my path in ways I couldn’t have predicted. If it weren’t for my dear friends and business partners, Jonah and Lauren Butcher, founders of Green Machines ATMs, I would have never stepped into entrepreneurship the way I did. Starting a fundraising ATM company with them was one of the best learning experiences of my life—it taught me so much about community impact, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
In my coaching practice, I’ve also been profoundly influenced by Esther Perel’s book State of Affairs, which completely changed the way I think about infidelity. Her work helped me see it not as a moral failure, but as a doorway into deeper truth and relational growth. Martha Kauppi’s groundbreaking teachings on ethical non-monogamy have been equally transformative, offering a compassionate, systemic lens for supporting people through relational complexity. I honestly wouldn’t be the coach I am today without their wisdom, trainings, and the courage they model in reimagining what’s possible in love, connection, and relationship.
