We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Leone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In its most basic terms my motivation was survival. I was a young single mother when I got into the beauty industry, it really was the only thing that I had a passion for. Don’t get me wrong I worked about a million dead end and odd jobs before I really got a break in the industry. I worked as a freelance Makeup Artist for most of my 20’s and I loved it but it was hard to have balance between work and home while raising my daughter. The hours were long and the money unpredictable. So, about 10 years ago I decided I had to change gears to something I had more control over as far as my schedule but still provided me the financial stability that being a full time single parent requires. I had just started to hear the buzz about Lashes and thought I would give them a try. I took a class and oddly enough I had a natural ability for it, the only real struggle was training myself to sit and focus for long periods of time I was used to standing and moving. Now here it is almost 10 years later and I would consider myself at a master level in my craft and my daughter is graduated from high school. I was able to keep a roof over our heads and still make it to every event my daughter ever had and that was very important too me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the infancy of lashes there was not a not of training, all of us that started that long ago were mostly self taught until a few trail blazers started really offering some trainings with substance. This industry is still fairly new in the grand scheme of beauty treatments but it has sky rocketed in popularity and artisty in a short amount of time. I have been blessed to see it grow and blossom into a million dollar industry and how it has helped so many woman take control of thier time and finances, it’s just amazing! I plan to continue producing beautiful work and beautiful relationships with my clients and students as long as I can. My goal is to not only train but mentor young woman and mothers to reach their full potential.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a CO transplant so I totally love showing off this state when I have out of town guests. My favorites are Red Rocks, whether we get to see a show or just hike the stairs, Glenwood springs for a long weekend or downtown Denver for some culture. This state is the best!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Daughter has always been my driving force and as she got older my biggest supporter but me and business would not be were they are today without the help of an amazing woman named Debbie Hager. She herself was a single mother and started her own nail shop years ago and when I first moved to Colorado she offered me a room to rent but more then that she encouraged me, looked out for me and gave me a little family.
