Meet Stephanie Zambo | Residential Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Zambo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, how do you think about risk?
As with any business owner you have to take risks to get started. I had to let go of fear and old truths to start my business. One big risk was letting go of.a very comfortable salaried position as the Business Manager for a family law firm in the middle of a pandemic. I knew my potential but as we all know, money is a big stressor. The idea that I would not have a steady income and would be paid solely on commission was the first hurdle in my mind I had to jump. I set myself up for success by selling my gas guzzling Jeep and getting a Kia Soul. That was harder than I thought as I didn’t realize that part of my identity was tied up in the vehicle I drove. In a way, I let apart of my old self go by selling my Jeep. People may not think of that is risk but when you simultaneously change nearly everything about your identity like changing from the mindset of an employee to a business owner, or changing from owning a perceived “cool” vehicle to a commuter car, or changing how I think about money, its all perceived risk and involves letting go of fear. The personal growth that comes with taking risks, stepping into your power and running your business is terrifying but I would not change a thing. I have grown so much since starting my business by pushing through challenges most of which are in my own head as I work through old belief systems. Taking risks has allowed me to believe in an abundance mindset and that what you put out into the world comes back. Taking risks has allowed me to surround myself with people who are smarter than me, vibrant, and push me to grow. At first I was hesitant to even think about taking risks as just about everything felt risky when i was getting started, now I feel that risk is simply an opportunity for growth and improvement.

What should our readers know about your business?
“Always remember this: no matter which field you work in or what training you have received or what your skills are, you will always be your most important commodity. You, yourself are the most valuable thing you can offer to someone.” The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann
What sets me apart in my business is me, my background, and how I truly believe that I should and can provide as much value as possible whether you are a client or not. I enjoy authentic connection and pride myself in being a resource, an advocate, a friend, and a counselor through the home-buying or selling process. With my degree in Communication Studies from Colorado State University, I tailor each experience to my client based on their communication style, their needs, and their expectations.
What excites me the most about owning and running my own business is the ability to make it anything I want, I shape what my business looks like and how it operates. I have a history of event planning and have integrated this skill into my business. I am passionate about bringing the community together and have planned and hosted several events including the Cardboard House Awards, an annual Easter egg hunt event for my neighborhood, and holiday photos out of Windsor Coffee. I look forward to continuing to host the events and engage with my community.
Was it easy? No. Will it ever be “easy”? Probably not. Is it worth it? Absolutely. It may sound cliche but where I am now is a result of my journey as a whole. From my degree and choosing to capstone in entrepreneurship, my college job managing Floyd’s Barbershop and running their marketing, to my first “career” as a property manager that paid for me to get my real estate license, I could have never predicted that I would be here now. Each step I took in my past led me to this point and taught me valuable lessons that have contributed to my success as an entrepreneur and real estate agent. The amount or personal growth and development that comes with owning a business is invaluable and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My only piece of advice is just go for it and be prepared for some serious growth.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For starters it’s always a good idea to start locally in Northern Colorado. I take all of my visiting friends and family to DC Oakes and its always a hit. For a top notch evening cocktail Elliot’s in Old Town is my recommendation. A day of paddle boarding or boating locally at Horsetooth is always on the list. Next up, beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado up to Mount Princeton Hot Springs. I may be biased as I got engaged and married in Buena Vista but there is truly something magical about this place. Soaking in the springs at Mount Princeton Hot Springs tucked away and surrounded by mountains is the best way to unwind and relax. Breakfast at Roosters Crow Cafe is a must followed by a day of white water rafting. Along with hiking, riding horses, eating only at local restaurants (there are almost no chain restaurants in Buena Vista), it will be a relaxing, fun filled week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Big shoutout to my long time friend Jessie Dore. Jessie was a pivotal person in my story and transition to entrepreneurship. Jessie and I met in college at Colorado State University and have maintained friendship for over ten years across states. She developed her own marketing agency just a few years ago and had undergone the change that is required to become a business owner and entrepreneur. There were numerous phone calls, visits, and emotional conversations that she guided me through. She told me time and time again to let go of fear and jump in that there as no way I wouldn’t succeed. She was my coach as I made the transition and I am forever grateful for her.
